\nOlivia Jade<\/strong> has finally checked her privilege, and it only took a nationwide college admissions scandal for her to do so!<\/p>\n

The breakout star of Operation Varsity Blues sat down for her first interview since the news<\/a> of the controversy broke last year, breaking her silence on her family\u2019s involvement in the scandal on Tuesday\u2019s episode of Jada Pinkett Smith<\/strong>\u2018s Facebook<\/a> Watch<\/strong> show Red Table Talk<\/em>.<\/p>\n

As you likely know, the 21-year-old influencer\u2019s parents, Lori Loughlin<\/strong> and Mossimo Giannulli<\/strong>, are both currently serving time in prison after pleading guilty in May to paying $500,000 in bribes to get their two children accepted into the University of Southern California<\/strong> as bogus crew recruits.<\/p>\n

Unsurprisingly, seeing her parents sent off to prison wasn\u2019t easy for OJ, but she admitted on Red Table Talk<\/em> that she\u2019s not trying to dwell on it. She explained:<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s been hard. I think for anybody, no matter what the situation is, you don\u2019t want to see your parents go to prison, but also I think it\u2019s necessary for us to move on and move forward.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

We bet all she wants is to move forward from this scandal! But of course, it\u2019s hard to move on from something of this magnitude.<\/p>\n

While the social media star maintained she wasn\u2019t fully in-the-know of what her parents did to secure her USC admission (hard to believe, seeing as gurl posed for the fake rowing pics herself), she admits that the family severely \u201cmessed up.\u201d<\/p>\n

OJ continued to Jada and her co-hosts, daughter Willow Smith<\/strong> and mother Adrienne Banfield-Jones<\/strong>:<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m not trying to victimize myself. I don\u2019t want pity \u2014 I don\u2019t deserve pity. We messed up. I just want a second chance to be like, \u2018I recognize I messed up.\u2019 I never got to say, \u2018I\u2019m really sorry that this happ<\/a>ened,\u2019 or \u2018I really own that this was a big mess-up on everybody\u2019s part,\u2019 but I think everybody feels that way in my family right now.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Well, we guess it\u2019s nice she\u2019s holding herself accountable. But it\u2019s not like she really has any other choice if she wants to save her career\u2026<\/p>\n

The vlogger later recalled the moment when she first learned the scandal was going to go public, telling the table:<\/p>\n

\u201cI was sitting with a group of friends and I knew any second everybody was going to know too, if they didn\u2019t already, and I remember just freezing and feeling so ashamed \u2014 I went home and hid myself for probably three or four months.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Olivia went on to say that she \u201cdidn\u2019t really 100 percent understand what just had happened\u201d and \u201cwasn\u2019t angry\u201d at her parents initially because she \u201cdidn\u2019t see the wrong\u201d in the situation.<\/p>\n

She added:<\/p>\n

\u201cWe did all of this and we\u2019re so ignorant, and I feel like a huge part of privilege is not knowing you have privilege. And so when it was happening, it didn\u2019t feel wrong. It didn\u2019t feel like, that\u2019s not fair, a lot of people don\u2019t have that\u2026 I was like, \u2018Why is everybody complaining?\u2019 That\u2019s embarrassing within itself, that I walked around my whole 20 years of life not realizing, \u2018You have insane privilege. You\u2019re like the poster child of white privilege. You had no idea.’\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

For what it\u2019s worth, the scandal eventually gave Olivia \u2014 and hopefully a bunch of other rich kids \u2014 a much needed reality check. Recently, she\u2019s spent time mentoring young, at-risk students in Los Angeles, which she claims has \u201cshifted [her] whole mentality.\u201d She explained:<\/p>\n

\u201cThey all were so little but they were so grateful for that education \u2026 I was watching all of them and I was thinking about my situation and that I took all of that for granted. I didn\u2019t think that I was lucky to have that, I just expected it because that\u2019s what I grew around. So it was a big shift in my head knowing, \u2018Okay, let\u2019s start recognizing where the wrongs are in that.’\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Although OJ has learned priceless lessons throughout this experience, she is totally, completely done with this scandal and wants the public to feel the same way. (Well, it\u2019s not really done for the people who didn\u2019t get into USC because she took their spot, but we digress\u2026) She noted:<\/p>\n

\u201cI want to move forward and I totally, totally understand if people aren\u2019t ready to jump on board with me, but I\u2019m here because I want to leave it on the table. I don\u2019t want to keep dragging this throughout my life.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

However, Olivia\u2019s many critics likely aren\u2019t ready to forgive and forget just yet.<\/p>\n

Even Jada\u2019s momma revealed she was still anti-OJ, telling viewers that she fought the appearance \u201ctooth-and-nail.\u201d Banfield-Jones elaborated:<\/p>\n

\u201cI find it really ironic that she chooses three Black women to reach out to for her redemption story. It\u2019s bothersome to me on so many levels. Her being her is the epitome of white privilege to me.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

We\u2019re sure many others will agree.<\/p>\n
