J. Jonah Jameson is about to be replete with pictures of Spider-Man. Hot off the news<\/a> that Alfred Molina would be reprising his role as Doctor Octopus in Sony and Marvel Studios\u2019\u00a0Spider-Man 3<\/em><\/strong>, more casting news has emerged that will give star Tom Holland<\/strong> quite a bit of competition for the best webslinger. A new report reveals that the upcoming\u00a0Spider-Man 3<\/em> will bring back past Peter Parkers,\u00a0Andrew Garfield<\/strong>\u00a0from the Amazing Spider-Man<\/em> movies<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Tobey Maguire<\/strong> of Sam Raimi\u2019s\u00a0Spider-Man<\/em> trilogy, along with\u00a0Kirsten Dunst<\/strong>\u2018s Mary Jane.\u00a0Emma Stone<\/strong> is also in talks to return as Gwen Stacy.<\/p>\n

Mentioned in Collider\u2019s<\/a> report about the return of Molina as Doctor Octopus\u00a0is the news that Garfield and Maguire are both set to reprise their role as Spider-Man in the upcoming multiverse-crossing\u00a0Spider-Man 3<\/em>. Garfield is a done deal, while Maguire is in talks, Collider notes. Dunst, who played Mary Jane in Raimi\u2019s\u00a0Spider-Man<\/em> trilogy is also a done deal, though\u00a0The Amazing Spider-Man<\/em> love interest, Stone\u2019s Gwen Stacy, is still in talks, with a pending pregnancy potentially preventing her return.
\nThis is crazy news, and could suggest that\u00a0Spider-Man 3<\/em> is in danger of becoming seriously over-crowded, though I doubt the actors will all get more than cameos. Unless director\u00a0Jon Watts<\/strong> is going the full\u00a0Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse<\/em> route and positions Maguire and Garfield as allies and would-be mentors to Holland, who has never been without a father figure in some form since his introduction to the MCU in\u00a0Captain America: Civil War<\/em> (first with Robert Downey Jr.\u2019s Tony Stark, then with villains played by Michael Keaton and Jake Gyllenhaal). It would be nice to see if Holland could hold his own without a bigger A-list star showing him the ropes, but I also wouldn\u2019t be against some good old banter between Holland, Garfield, and Maguire.<\/p>\n

The only thing missing is confirmation that J.K. Simmons will be back as both versions of J.Jonah Jameson, to have his field day getting pictures of Spider-Man.<\/p>\n

The yet-untitled\u00a0Spider-Man 3<\/em>\u00a0will be led by Holland in his last Marvel Cinematic Universe jaunt before Sony wins back the rights to the friendly neighborhood webslinger. Garfield, Maguire, Dunst, and Stone, will be joining the already-cast Molina as the Doc Ock from the Raimi films,\u00a0Jamie Foxx<\/strong>\u2018s Electro from\u00a0The Amazing Spider-Man 2<\/em>, as well as\u00a0Benedict Cumberbatch<\/strong>\u2018s Doctor Strange. The film will also co-star\u00a0Zendaya<\/strong>,\u00a0Jacob Batalon<\/strong>,\u00a0Tony Revolori<\/strong>,\u00a0and\u00a0Marisa Tomei<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The film is currently slated to hit theaters on\u00a0December 17<\/strong>,\u00a02021<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
