This and other COVID-19-related pickup lines were a massively popular trend among Tinder users this year, the dating app announced Monday in its \u201cYear in Swipe\u201d review. <\/p>\n

Since the pandemic began in March, mentions of \u201cquarantine & chill\u201d and other creative lockdown-inspired one-liners (\u201cWash your hands so you can come hold mine\u201d) became among the top 10 \u201cessential trends\u201d on the dating app, Tinder reported. <\/p>\n

The review goes on to quote a number of clever bios it pulled from real users\u2019 profiles, including \u201clooking for a plus-one for my family Zoom calls,\u201d \u201clooking for someone to pump up my heart rate so my glasses fog with my mask on\u201d and, \u201cA month ago I needed cuddles. But now I need sanitizer and face masks. Could you help me out?\u201d <\/p>\n

However, the No. 1 trend slot is support for the Black Lives Matter movement, with mentions of BLM growing 55% in 2020 \u2014 surpassing the use of the term \u201chook-up,\u201d the matchmaking platform reported. <\/p>\n

Masks also saw a huge rise in popularity, with mentions of them up 10 times what they were last year. At the same time that face coverings became a \u201cdating essential,\u201d the app reported, writing \u201cCarole Baskin killed her husband\u201d (in reference to the \u201cTiger King\u201d conspiracy theory) in a profile bio or using it as an icebreaker was a \u201ccommon deal-breaker.\u201d <\/p>\n

Mentions of \u201cvote\u201d doubled this year, with many using the platform to encourage others to cast their ballots. Mentions of the video game<\/a> series<\/a> \u201cAnimal Crossing\u201d also significantly increased, with a peak in May. <\/p>\n

The shrug emoji became the most-used of the year, and Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion\u2019s track \u201cWAP\u201d became the app\u2019s No. 1 anthem. <\/p>\n

And despite the dismal outlook for the winter ahead, singles are trying harder than ever to find love: Users swiped on and messaged each other exponentially more this autumn than they did at the end of February, Tinder wrote. <\/p>\n
