The\u00a0<em>Once Upon a Time in Hollywood<\/em> director is not-so-secretly a fan of Pine\u2019s depiction of Captain Kirk in the J.J. Abrams\u00a0<em>Star Trek<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/watch-movies-tv-seriess\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"8\" title=\"Watch Movies &amp; TV Series\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">movies<\/a>, and the result is a\u00a0<em>Star Trek<\/em> script that has \u201cso much fun\u201d with Kirk, according to Tarantino\u2019s co-screenwriter\u00a0<strong>Mark L. Smith<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s another update for you on Tarantino\u2019s R-rated\u00a0<em>Star Trek<\/em> movie that will <em>definitely<\/em> get made one day. In an interview with\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.gamesradar.com\/quentin-tarantino-star-trek-mark-l-smith-kirk\/\">SFX Magazine<\/a>,\u00a0<em>The Revenant<\/em> screenwriter Mark L. Smith, who worked on the screenplay with the filmmaker based on his original idea for a\u00a0<em>Star Trek<\/em> movie (which Tarantino previously described as an \u201cearthbound\u201d 1930s gangster movie), revealed that the film is very Captain Kirk-centric, inspired by Tarantino\u2019s love for Chris Pine\u2019s performance in the role:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><!-- SlashFilm_300x250_In_Post -->\u201cI wrote a Star Trek with Tarantino, and that was a sci-fi script on which I could have fun and lean into some bigger, broader things. Kirk is always just so fun. Tarantino and I had so much fun with him, because Kirk is just William Shatner, y\u2019know? It\u2019s like: you\u2019re not sure who is who, so you can kinda lean into that. Because you watch Chris Pine and he\u2019s playing Kirk, but he\u2019s also playing William Shatner a touch.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Tarantino has long been a fan of the <em>Wonder Woman 1984<\/em> actor, recently stating in\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=nsm9HhKPprI\">an interview<\/a>\u00a0on The Ringer\u2019s \u201cRewatchables\u201d podcast that Pine was his favorite young actor working today, and admitting that it was Pine\u2019s performance as Captain Kirk that made him interested in contributing to the\u00a0<em>Star Trek<\/em> film franchise that launched with Abrams\u2019 2009 reboot. The\u00a0director once told\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/podcasts.apple.com\/us\/podcast\/happy-sad-confused\/id827905050\">MTV,<\/a>\u00a0\u201cI thought Chris Pine did a fantastic job not just playing Capt. Kirk but playing William Shatner\u2019s captain \u2014 he is William Shatner. He\u2019s not just another guy, he\u2019s William Shatner\u2019s Capt. Kirk. And Zachary Quinto is literally Leonard Nimoy\u2019s \u2014 because they both have the same scene together \u2014 he\u2019s his Spock. They fucking nail it.
