The original Wasp is coming back for\u00a0Ant-Man 3<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Michelle Pfeiffer<\/strong>, whose Janet van Dyne made her debut in 2018\u2019s\u00a0Ant-Man and the Wasp<\/em> after getting rescued from the Quantum Realm, confirmed that she\u2019ll be returning in\u00a0Ant-Man 3<\/em>, which is due to begin filming in spring 2021. She will reunite with leads Paul Rudd<\/strong> and Evangeline Lilly<\/strong>, as Scott Lang and Hope van Dyne, respectively, and presumably, Michael Douglas<\/strong> as Hank Pym.<\/p>\n

During an app<\/a>earance on\u00a0the\u00a0Ladies First with Laura Brown<\/a>\u00a0podcast (via Coming Soon<\/a>), Pfeiffer confirmed that she\u2019ll be suiting up again as Janet van Dyne in\u00a0Ant-Man 3<\/em>. She wouldn\u2019t share any details about her role in the sequel, or whether she\u2019ll get to do more than her brisk appearance in\u00a0Ant-Man and the Wasp<\/em>,\u00a0but she did confirm that filming is set to begin in spring 2021.<\/p>\n

Hopefully,\u00a0Ant-Man 3<\/em> will give Pfeiffer a larger role than\u00a0Ant-Man and the Wasp<\/em>, where her character was given central plot importance (her rescue from the Quantum Realm) but little to do apart from appear in flashbacks and arrive in time for the climax. It was almost a waste of Pfeiffer\u2019s casting, but hopefully she\u2019ll get more of a significant role in\u00a0Ant-Man 3<\/em>.<\/p>\n

We know very little about\u00a0Ant-Man 3<\/em> apart from the return of leads Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly as\u00a0Scott Lang\/Ant-Man and Hope van Dyne\/Wasp, respectively. Michael Douglas, Michael Pe\u00f1a, Tip \u201cT.I.\u201d Harris, and David Dastmalchian are all also likely to return, but have not been confirmed.\u00a0Director\u00a0Peyton Reed\u00a0<\/strong>is back as well, with the filmmaker recently teasing that\u00a0Ant-Man 3<\/em> will be \u201ca much bigger, more sprawling movie\u201d than the previous two installments in the franchise, and that the series<\/a> is decidedly about the partnership between Ant-Man and the Wasp, and by extension the Ant-Man family.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey\u2019re a partnership, and [The Wasp] a very, very important part of that,\u201d Reed said earlier this summer. \u201cAnd that was a very gratifying thing, I guess technically we were the first Marvel movie with a female hero in the title of the movie. Finding that balance in that movie, that\u2019s very important to me because that\u2019s very much a men\u2019s playing field, historically. But that\u2019s really, really changing now in a great way.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Ant-Man team will be threatened by Kang the Conqueror in the coming sequel, who will reportedly be played by\u00a0Lovecraft Country<\/em> star Jonathan Majors<\/strong>. In the comics, Kang is a 30th-century scholar named\u00a0Nathaniel Richards who usually appears as a major Avengers nemesis, suggesting that he\u2019s being\u00a0set up to become a bigger threat in a future film.\u00a0Beyond that, we don\u2019t know what role the character will play in the sequel.
\nAnt-Man 3<\/em> does not currently have a release date.<\/p>\n
