\n More than a dozen Ohio teens tested positive for the coronavirus after returning from a trip to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, according to a report.<\/p>\n

Fourteen students from Belmont County schools tested positive after coming home June 14 from the beach spot, The Sun News<\/a> reported.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a rite of passage, but this year the kids came home with more than sand in their shorts \u2013 they got COVID-19,\u201d said Bellaire Schools Superintendent Darren Jenkins told news station WTRF.<\/p>\n

There are still tests pending from the group of 90 students who traveled from both Belmont County and neighboring West Virginia, according to reports.<\/p>\n

Robert Sproul, the deputy health commissioner of Belmont County, said officials are also working with students\u2019 families to make sure their relatives haven\u2019t contracted the virus, The Sun News reported.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur COVID 19 numbers were slowing down, and now this,\u201d Sproul said of the outbreak. \u201cThis is not what we wanted.\u201d\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
