It\u2019s monolith mania.<\/p>\n

More and more of the mysterious silver structures \u2014 spotted in Utah and Romania and even on the Isle of Wight \u2014 have been cropping up around the world.<\/p>\n

In recent days, sightings were reported in the Netherlands<\/a> and in Colombia<\/a> \u2014 as well as across the U.S.<\/p>\n

Video obtained by Storyful<\/a> showed a rowdy crowd \u2014 app<\/a>arently fed-up with the mystifying, mutiplying metal objects \u2014 toppling one that had appeared in a San Diego parking lot on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

The group of six pulled the sculpture out of the ground and carried it off as onlookers cheered \u201cThey got the monolith!,\u201d the clip shows.<\/p>\n

The San Diego Police Department said the gang then loaded the monolith into a truck and took off, local TV station KNSD reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n

That California monolith was one of several that materialized in the Golden State.<\/p>\n

The first was spotted atop a mountain in Atascadero last week, before a twin structure popped up in the city\u2019s Stadium Park, The Tribune reported<\/a>. Both of those objects were later removed.<\/p>\n

Another of the three-sided steel sculptures appeared in Canyon Country Park\u00a0in Santa Clarita, and a few hours away, in Joshua Tree, according to the Los Angeles Daily News<\/a>.<\/p>\n

There was also a sighting this week in snowy Colorado, at Sunlight Mountain Resort in Glenwood Springs, local outlet KKCO reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n

While most of the monoliths have been between 7 and 10-feet tall, a smaller, 3-foot structure emerged on Dec. 3 in downtown Fayetteville, North Carolina, according to The Fayetteville Observer<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, a candy shop in Pittsburgh even commissioned one of the objects<\/a> \u2014 a 10-foot tall, 24-inch wide triangle of plywood covered in sheet metal \u2014 to place outside the store last week.<\/p>\n

The owner of Grandpa Joe\u2019s Candy Shop, Christopher Beers, freely admitted to the gimmick, which he said was a way to remind people to support small businesses.<\/p>\n

The monoliths stirred worldwide speculation when they began appearing in mid-November \u2014 with theories about their origins ranging from a marketing ploy to extraterrestrials.<\/p>\n

A small community of \u201cstunt artists\u201d known as\u00a0The Most Famous Artist\u00a0claimed credit\u00a0for at least the Utah sculpture \u2014 which was later dismantled.<\/p>\n

The collective\u2019s founder, Matty Mo, previously told The Post that the idea behind the work had been to \u201cstart a global phenomenon.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019d say mission accomplished,\u201d he said. \u201cI hope every city gets a monolith. It brings people together and spreads joy.\u201d\n <\/p><\/div>\n
