\n The animal rescue group who confiscated Central Park Karen\u2019s dog after her racist confrontation with a birdwatcher went viral last month said Wednesday that it will return the pooch.<\/p>\n

The rescue group, Abandoned Angels, said in a Facebook<\/a> post that vets determined Amy Cooper\u2019s dog was in good health and that law enforcement authorities refused to take the pooch into their custody.<\/p>\n

\u201cConsistent with input received from law enforcement, we have now complied with the owner\u2019s request for return of the dog,\u201d it wrote in the Facebook post.<\/p>\n

It added that it wanted to \u201cexpress gratitude for the outpouring of support regarding the dog that was recently placed in our custody, following release of a troubling video that was brought to our attention.\u201d<\/p>\n

Cooper was recorded in a now-viral video threatening to call cops on black birdwatcher Christian Cooper, who confronted her about having her dog off its leash in the Central Park Ramble.<\/p>\n

In the video, which was recorded by Cooper, she yells at him for recording her, then calls police.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m in the Ramble and an African American man with a bicycle helmet, he is recording me and threatening my dog,\u201d Amy Cooper says in the video.<\/p>\n

She pauses before repeating: \u201cThere is an African American man. I am in Central Park. He is recording me and threatening myself and my dog.\u201d<\/p>\n

The video sparked a national outrage after going viral on social media, and Abandoned Angels took the dog days after the attention.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs of this evening, the owner has voluntarily surrendered the dog in question to our rescue while this matter is being addressed,\u201d Abandoned Angels said in a statement in May.<\/p>\n

Cooper was also fired from her job at an investment firm after the clip was widely shared.\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
