On tonight\u2019s episode of The Late Show<\/em><\/a>,<\/em> Stephen Colbert welcomed Megan Thee Stallion. The rapp<\/a>er sat down for an interview, where she discussed her numerous recent accolades, why she titled her new album Good News<\/a><\/em>, and what it meant to collaborate with Beyonc\u00e9. Watch excerpts of the interview below.<\/p>\n

Colbert asked her who gives better advice, Beyonc\u00e9 or JAY-Z. \u201cJAY-Z gives the fun advice,\u201d she said. \u201cLike say if I\u2019m havin\u2019 a bad day, he\u2019ll be like, \u2018Girl you need to be somewhere drivin\u2019 a boat. Turn up. Have a good time.\u2019 He gives me the more hot girl advice. Beyonc\u00e9 is like, \u2018Look queen, just rise above.\u2019 She says it the nicer way and JAY-Z gives it to me the more turnt up way.\u201d Later, after Colbert mentioned that Pitchfork named \u201cWAP\u201d song of the year, she addressed the Republican backlash to the song.\u00a0<\/p>\n

She also discussed writing \u201cBody\u201d as a celebration of body positivity and gave Colbert some advice. \u201cThe hook literally came from me looking in the mirror admiring my fluff,\u201d she said. When Colbert responded that he doesn\u2019t like spending too much time in front of a full-length mirror, she replied, \u00a0\u201cNo! You gotta appreciate! Let it marinate, let it sit, like, \u2018I like this! I like where this is going!\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Megan Thee Stallion\u2019s new album Good News<\/em> just arrived at the end of November. It was named by Pitchfork one of \u201cThe 50 Best Albums of 2020,\u201d and she had two songs in Pitchfork\u2019s \u201c100 Best Songs of 2020.\u201d Read \u201cThe Year Megan Thee Stallion Became a Symbol.\u201d<\/p>\n
