Streaming works over a local network or the internet, and it\u2019s the perfect option when someone else wants to use the TV. Here\u2019s how to set it up.<\/p>\n<h2 role=\"heading\" aria-level=\"2\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Set_Up_Remote_Play_on_Your_Xbox_Series_X_or_S\"><\/span>Set Up Remote Play on Your Xbox Series X or S<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>To play games remotely, you first have to enable remote features on your console. To do this, you have to use the Xbox\u2019s power-sipping \u201cInstant-On\u201d feature, which drastically speeds up the console\u2019s start times.<\/p>\n<p>To get started, turn on your Xbox and hit the Xbox button to open the guide. Next, select \u201cTest Remote Play\u201d and wait for the Xbox to perform some self-checks to determine how well game streaming will work over the connection.<\/p>\n<p>After this is complete, you should see some information about how suitable your internet connection is for streaming outside your home. If you ever want to disable Remote Play, just return to this menu and uncheck the \u201cEnable Remote Features\u201d option.<\/p>\n<p>If you switch the power mode back to \u201cEnergy-Saving,\u201d it will also disable the Remote Play features.<\/p>\n<h2 role=\"heading\" aria-level=\"2\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Configure_the_Xbox_App_and_Pair_Your_Controller\"><\/span>Configure the Xbox App and Pair Your Controller<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>If you haven\u2019t already done so, grab the Xbox <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a> for <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/apps.apple.com\/us\/app\/xbox\/id736179781\">iPhone, iPad<\/a>, or <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/play.google.com\/store\/apps\/details?id=com.microsoft.xboxone.smartglass&amp;hl=en_AU&amp;gl=US\">Android<\/a>. Log in with the same Xbox credentials you use on your console, and then tap the \u201cLibrary\u201d tab. If you haven\u2019t yet set up the app, tap \u201cSet Up a Console.\u201d From here, you can either set up a new console or add an existing one. Just follow the instructions to link your console to your smartphone by typing the code displayed on-screen.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"admonishment_note\"><p><strong>Note:<\/strong> The Xbox Wireless Controller that comes with the Series X and S isn\u2019t currently supported by Apple devices. Microsoft has promised support will arrive in the future via a firmware update. The process will vary depending on your device, but <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/general\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"3\" title=\"General\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">general<\/a>ly, you just put your controller in discovery mode, and then tap it when it appears under the list of available Bluetooth devices.<\/p>\n<p>For testing purposes, we connected a DualShock 4 to an iPhone X, which worked im<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">media<\/a>tely. We were flying around the Xbox dashboard with a PlayStation controller in no time.<\/p>\n<h2 role=\"heading\" aria-level=\"2\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Launch_Games_via_the_Xbox_App\"><\/span>Launch Games via the Xbox App<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Launch the Xbox app and tap the console icon at the top right. In the panel that appears, tap \u201cRemote Play on This Device,\u201d and then wait for your smartphone to connect to your console.<\/p>\n<p>When you see the dashboard, you\u2019re good to go. You can now use your Xbox as if you were sitting right in front of it, with your smartphone acting as a remote display.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-703771\" src=\"https:\/\/www.howtogeek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/xremote_play_this_xbox.png.pagespeed.gp+jp+jw+pj+ws+js+rj+rp+rw+ri+cp+md.ic.v1OI7rySFm.png\" alt=\"Remote Play on This Xbox via iPhone\" width=\"650\" height=\"451\" onload=\"pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\" onerror=\"this.onerror=null;pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\"\/><\/p>\n<p>How well this all works will depend entirely on the connection you\u2019re using. In our tests, sitting in the same room as the Xbox and wireless router provided a near-perfect streaming experience, with very little lag or visible video compression.<\/p>\n<p>If you have any performance issues, try switching to a faster 5GHz wireless network, if available. Using a wired Ethernet connection to your Xbox will also help.<\/p>\n<h2 role=\"heading\" aria-level=\"2\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Can_You_Stream_to_Windows_10_or_Mac\"><\/span>Can You Stream to Windows 10 or Mac?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>As of the console\u2019s release in late 2020, Microsoft hasn\u2019t yet announced support for Series X or S game streaming on Windows PCs or Macs. The old Xbox Console Companion app for Windows 10<span style=\"font-size: 15px;\">\u00a0only works with Xbox One era consoles at present.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>However, one eagle-eyed person shared <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/tuxuser360\/status\/1326663638921453569\">this\u00a0work-around\u00a0on Twitter<\/a>. In theory, anyone with a new Apple Silicon Mac should be able to download and run the Xbox iPhone app on the Mac desktop and get the same functionality. We haven\u2019t tested either of these methods, however, so your mileage may vary.<\/p>\n<p>Remote play over a local connection is neat, but Microsoft also has Project xCloud, which allows you to\u00a0stream entire games with nothing but an internet connection and a Game Pass subscription.
