Emma Stone<\/strong> teaming up with Nathan Fielder<\/strong> and the Safdie Brothers<\/strong>? No, you\u2019re not dreaming \u2013 it\u2019s really happ<\/a>ening. Showtime announced today that it has ordered the comedy series\u00a0The Curse<\/em><\/strong>, which will star Stone. The series was created by Fielder and Benny Safdie<\/strong>, who will both appear in the show as well. The Safdie Brothers will executive produce along with Stone and Fielder. The show follows how an alleged curse interferes with a married couple on a \u201cproblematic new HGTV show.\u201d<\/p>\n

What a lineup! Emma Stone, the Safdie Brothers, and Nathan Fielder are all teaming up for\u00a0The Curse<\/em>, a new Showtime half-hour comedy series. Josh<\/strong> and Benny Safdie will executive produce along with Stone and Fielder (who will also direct), and A24 will produce, making this entire endeavor feel like a film Twitter<\/a> fever-dream come to life. Stone, Fielder, and Benny Safdie will also all star in\u00a0The Curse<\/em>, which is being described as \u201ca genre-bending scripted comedy that explores how an alleged curse disturbs the relationship of a newly married couple as they try to conceive a child while co-starring on their problematic new HGTV show.\u201d
\nThat sounds pretty damn great, honestly. Stone has great comedic timing, and the idea of her working with Fielder and the Safdies is bound to result in something special. This won\u2019t be Stone\u2019s first time on a series \u2013 she also appeared in Netflix\u2019s\u00a0Maniac<\/em>. The Safdie\u2019s credits include\u00a0Good Time<\/em> and\u00a0Uncut Gems<\/em>, and Fielder is behind\u00a0Nathan For You<\/em> and the recently premiered\u00a0How To with John Wilson<\/em>.\u00a0Showtime ordered a pilot for The Curse\u00a0<\/em>earlier this year, where it was revealed that\u00a0Fielder will play the husband in the married couple, and Benny Safdie will play the producer of the HGTV show. The press release doesn\u2019t confirm this, but it\u2019s safe to assume that Stone is playing Fielder\u2019s wife.<\/p>\n
