“#Wandering Witch’s Elaina Has A “Darker” Personality In The Books, Author Says<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

Elaina, the titular star of the anime<\/a> <\/span>Wandering Witch: The Journey of Elaina<\/span><\/i>, isn\u2019t a perfect heroine. Although the travel<\/a>ing witch assists good causes and has displayed kindness and empathy, she\u2019s also smug <\/span>\u2014<\/span> despite her lesson in humility in the first episode <\/span>\u2014<\/span> and far from selfless. Even so, it seems that anime Elaina is a much better person than her light novel counterpart.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

In an interview with <\/span>Mipon<\/span><\/a>, author Jougi Shiraishi was asked if he thought that Elaina\u2019s darker side, such as her greed and craftiness, was properly reflected in the anime adaptation. In response, he said that \u201cthe anime plays down that part of her somewhat.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s even one chapter, in which Elaina tries to earn some money, that was deliberately not put in the anime,\u201d Shiraishi revealed. \u201cAlthough there were a lot of chapters that the anime staff probably wanted to adapt, with only 12 episodes, the chapters that were chosen didn\u2019t focus too much on the darker parts of Elaina\u2019s personality or her unscrupulousness with money.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
