Among the celebs featured this season are \u201cThis Is Us\u201d star Justin Hartley, Allison Janney (\u201cMom\u201d) and Rainn Wilson.<\/p>\n<p>Drew and Jonathan, 42, answered some questions from The Post about \u201cCelebrity IOU\u201d and what goes into producing their hit series.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Besides_Zooey_D_how_do_you_find_celebrities_who_want_to_participate_in_the_series\"><\/span>Besides Zooey D., how do you find celebrities who want to participate in the series?\u00a0<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><strong>Drew:<\/strong>\u00a0It took five years for us to get this idea off the ground \u2014 Viola Davis was the first person to say yes, without hesitation.\u00a0In the first season,\u00a0we had to reach out to a lot of celebrities we knew to spread the word about the new show. With the success of Season 1 and seeing how it transformed people\u2019s lives, now celebs are coming to us saying, \u201cI know someone who deserves this \u2026 please help.\u201d\u00a0It\u2019s really something special.\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Is_there_a_%E2%80%9CCelebrity_IOU%E2%80%9D_template_when_choosing_the_episodes_you_want_to_shoot_Are_there_ground_rules\"><\/span>Is there a \u201cCelebrity IOU\u201d template when choosing the\u00a0episodes\u00a0you want to shoot? Allison Janney called it a type of therapy, which it really is! What surprised us, but probably shouldn\u2019t have, is how excited everyone gets about the design side of it. Not everyone has the ability to visually pull a room together. But most of the celebs have been really great at it. We talk about budget on the front end, but that tends to be decided more by the kind of space we\u2019re\u00a0doing:\u00a0inside or outside, kitchen or bedrooms, etc. and what kind of permits are involved to ensure it\u2019s not something that will drag out for a year or more.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jonathan:<\/strong> Ultimately, the goal is to help\u00a0those who need it the most or who deserve it the most.\u00a0The\u00a0celebs\u00a0we work with are exceptionally\u00a0humble\u00a0people\u00a0and so\u00a0grateful and thankful for having the recipient in their lives.\u00a0The celebs\u00a0get hands-on throughout the entire project but, of course,\u00a0we\u2019re\u00a0also navigating through\u00a0complex schedules and sometimes other restrictions.\u00a0Thankfully, we haven\u2019t had a problem with scheduling any of our celebrities.\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Has_there_been_one_overriding_emotion_regarding_the_stars_who_want_to%E2%80%AFrenovate_a_friendmentors_residence\"><\/span>Has there been one overriding emotion regarding the stars who want to\u202frenovate a friend\/mentor\u2019s residence? <span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><strong>Jonathan:<\/strong>\u00a0An overwhelming sense of gratitude. Every\u00a0celebrity we work with cannot stop talking about how thankful they are for this\u00a0person\u2019s role in their life. How selflessly they give of their time and how they\u2019d never expect anything this special be done in return.\u00a0Whether they are related or not, they are always family. Some of the stories have involved real tragedy, others personal sacrifice. There have been a couple of celebrities who got pulled away\u00a0due to other\u00a0projects and had to postpone. Also COVID caused us to cancel some planned episodes due to <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/trip-and-travel\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"10\" title=\"Trip &amp; Travel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">travel<\/a>. And there was one where the potential recipient managed to sniff out what was h<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ening and really felt that the kindness would be best offered to somebody more in need. That alone brought a tear to my eye. We\u2019re really dealing with the most kind, generous, humble folks on this show. And it\u2019s inspiring.\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"How_long_does_it_take_to_complete_the_average_%E2%80%9CCelebrity_IOU%E2%80%9D_renovation\"><\/span>How long does it take to complete the average \u201cCelebrity IOU\u201d renovation?\u00a0<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><strong>Jonathan:<\/strong>\u00a0On our other shows like \u201cProperty Brothers: Forever Home\u201d or \u201cBrother vs. Brother,\u201d a six-week renovation is pretty standard, and that\u2019s after we\u2019ve gotten all the permits and contractors in place. On \u201cCelebrity IOU,\u201d we cut that timeline in half, so you really are looking at a three-to-four week renovation with a dedicated and brilliant crew and months of prep work and logistics.\u00a0Trust me, it\u2019s <em>all<\/em> in the prep and planning.
