House of the Dragon<\/strong><\/em>, HBO\u2019s much-hyped\u00a0Game<\/a> of Thrones<\/em> prequel show, has just secured three more lead actors.<\/p>\n

Matt Smith<\/strong> (Doctor Who<\/em>, The Crown<\/em>), Olivia Cooke<\/strong> (Ready Player One<\/em>), and Emma D\u2019Arcy<\/strong> (Truth Seekers<\/em>) are about to take a trip<\/a> to Westeros to star in a story set 300 years before the events of Game of Thrones<\/em>. According to The Hollywood Reporter<\/a>, Smith, Cooke, and D\u2019Arcy have just become the latest Game of Thrones<\/em> prequel series<\/a> cast members. Smith, whose credits also include Terminator Genisys<\/em> and Edgar Wright\u2019s upcoming Last Night in Soho<\/em>, will play\u00a0Prince Daemon Targaryen,\u00a0<\/strong>who is described as the \u201cyounger brother to King Viserys and heir to the throne. A peerless warrior and a dragonrider, Daemon possesses the true blood of the dragon. But it is said that whenever a Targaryen is born, the gods toss a coin in the air.\u201d
\nD\u2019Arcy (Wanderlust<\/em>, Hanna<\/em>) will play Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen, who is \u201cthe king\u2019s first-born child, she is of pure Valyrian blood, and she is a dragonrider. Many would say that Rhaenyra was born with everything\u2026but she was not born a man.\u201d<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Cooke (who is great in Amazon\u2019s new Sound of Metal<\/em>) is playing a member of a different House. She\u2019ll play\u00a0Alicent\u00a0Hightower, who is described by HBO as \u201cthe daughter of Otto Hightower, the Hand of the King, and the most comely woman in the Seven Kingdoms. She was raised in the Red Keep, close to the king and his innermost circle; she possesses both a courtly grace and a keen political acumen.\u201d<\/p>\n

The report also reveals that\u00a0Greg Yaitanes<\/strong> (Banshee<\/em>) has come on board the series as a director and co-executive producer. Clare Kilner<\/strong> (Snowpiercer<\/em>) and Geeta Patel<\/strong> (The Witcher<\/em>) have also been hired as directors. They\u2019ll join Game of Thrones<\/em> veteran Miguel Sapochnik<\/strong> behind the camera; Sapochnik will direct episodes of the series and also serve\u00a0as co-showrunner alongside Ryan Condal<\/strong> (Colony<\/em>), who co-created this series with A Song of Ice and Fire<\/em> author George R.R. Martin<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Paddy Considine<\/strong> (The Outsider<\/em>, Hot Fuzz<\/em>) has already been cast in the key role of\u00a0King Viserys Targaryen, who was \u201cchosen by the lords of Westeros to succeed the Old King, Jaehaerys Targaryen, at the Great Council at Harrenhal. A warm, kind and decent man, Viserys only wishes to carry forward his grandfather\u2019s legacy.\u00a0But good men do not necessarily make for great kings.\u201d<\/p>\n
