“#’Game<\/a> of Thrones’ Prequel Adds Matt Smith From ‘The Crown’ (VIDEO)<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

HBO’s upcoming Game of Thrones<\/em> prequel House of the Dragon<\/em> has added three new cast members, including Matt Smith from\u00a0The Crown<\/em> (portraying Prince Philip) and Doctor Who<\/em>.<\/p>\n

The star is set to play Prince Daemon Targaryen, the younger brother to the king.<\/p>\n

He’s joined by Olivia Cooke from A&E’s Bates Motel<\/em>, who has been tapp<\/a>ed to play Alice Hightower, the most beautiful woman in Westeros.\u00a0Emma D\u2019Arcy (Truth Seekers<\/em>) takes on the role of Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen, the first-born child of the king.<\/p>\n

Paddy Considine (The Outsider<\/em>) was previously cast as King Viserys Targaryen to succeed the Old King, Jaehaerys Targaryen.<\/p>\n

House of the Dragon<\/em> is based on George R.R. Martin\u2019s book Fire & Blood<\/em> and is set nearly 300 years before the events of Game of Thrones<\/em> occurred; it chronicles the Targaryen family.<\/p>\n

Martin and Ryan Condal (Colony)<\/em> are co-creators of the series<\/a>. Writing is ongoing with filming expected to begin in the new year.<\/p>\n

A previous Game of Thrones<\/em> prequel starring Naomi Watts was scrapped last year after the initial pilot was filmed. However, House of the Dragon <\/em>has received a 10 episode series order from HBO.<\/p>\n
