Adam McKay<\/strong>\u2018s\u00a0Don\u2019t Look Up<\/em><\/strong> already has a huge cast of famous faces, but hey, one more can\u2019t hurt. The latest: Chris Evans<\/strong>, former Captain America, and accidental dick-pic leaker, is joining\u00a0Leonardo DiCaprio<\/strong>,\u00a0Jennifer Lawrence<\/strong>,\u00a0Meryl Streep<\/strong>, and more in the Netflix dark comedy about \u201ctwo low-level astronomers who embark on a media<\/a> tour to warn mankind of an app<\/a>roaching asteroid that will destroy Earth.\u201d DiCaprio and Lawrence are apparently playing the astronomers and Streep is the President of the United States, but there\u2019s no info on Evans\u2019 part just yet.<\/p>\n

Once again, here\u2019s a reminder of all the famous folks who will be appearing in Adam McKay\u2019s\u00a0Don\u2019t Look Up<\/em>:\u00a0Leonardo DiCaprio,\u00a0Jennifer Lawrence,\u00a0Meryl Streep, Jonah Hill,\u00a0Timoth\u00e9e Chalamet<\/strong>,\u00a0Ariana Grande<\/strong>,\u00a0Kid Cudi<\/strong>,\u00a0Matthew Perry<\/strong>,\u00a0Himesh Patel<\/strong>,\u00a0Tomer Sisley<\/strong>,\u00a0Tyler Perry<\/strong>,\u00a0Melanie Lynskey<\/strong>, and\u00a0Ron Perlman<\/strong>. And now, according to Deadline, Chris Evans is part of the cast as well.
\nMcKay wrote the script, which is about \u201ctwo low-level astronomers, who must go on a giant media tour to warn mankind of an approaching asteroid that will destroy planet earth.\u201d When the film was first announced,\u00a0Scott Stuber, head of Netflix films, said: \u201cAdam has always had great timing when it comes to making smart, relevant and irreverent films that depict our culture. Even if he somehow ends up predicting planet Earth\u2019s imminent demise, we\u2019re excited to add this to our slate before it all comes to an end.\u201d<\/p>\n

It\u2019s still unclear who most of these people are playing, and just how big any of their roles will be. McKay has a habit of filling his films with surprising stars who sometimes only pop up for a scene or two, so I wouldn\u2019t be surprised if a lot of these parts amount to little more than extended cameos. In a recent interview, Streep revealed she was playing the President of the United States in the film, and that Jonah Hill was playing both her Chief of Staff and her son. Based on set pics that have leaked, it looks like DiCaprio and Lawrence are the two lead astronomers. As for everyone else? Well, we\u2019ll have to wait and see.\u00a0Streep also added that\u00a0the film is \u201cabout a global catastrophe, but it\u2019s sort of funny, like\u00a0Dr. Strangelove<\/em>\u00a0for 2020, about global warming \u2014 a metaphor for that.\u201d<\/p>\n

At the start of the year, Netflix planned to release\u00a0Don\u2019t Look Up<\/em> sometime in 2020. But, of course, the coronavirus got in the way and delayed production. As a result, filming didn\u2019t begin until last month. Which likely means we won\u2019t see Don\u2019t Look Up\u00a0<\/em>until the end of 2021 at the earliest.<\/p>\n
