Meryl Streep\u2019s prom was a night to remember.<\/p>\n

While promoting her upcoming Netflix musical \u201cThe Prom,\u201d the 71-year-old Oscar winner revealed that she suffered an unforgettable wardrobe malfunction on her own prom night.<\/p>\n

\u201cI had a pretty little dress that my mother had made me. It had two little spaghetti straps,\u201d Streep\u00a0told People<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI walked out to the car and I plopped down in the front seat and both spaghetti straps popped off.\u201d<\/p>\n

The actress remembers trying to \u201ctuck them underneath\u201d her dress before the dance.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was 14, I had nothing to hold up the dress except my arm,\u201d she said. \u201cSo I kept my arms pinned to my sides for four and a half hours at my prom.\u201d<\/p>\n

Streep\u2019s fashion emergency didn\u2019t hold her back from being voted homecoming queen her senior year of high school.\u00a0She attended Bernards High School in Bernardsville, New Jersey, where she was also a cheerleader and sung in the choir.<\/p>\n

The screen icon relived her high school days while\u00a0starring in Netflix\u2019s \u201cThe Prom\u201d<\/a>\u00a0alongside Nicole Kidman, James Corden and Andrew Rannells.\u00a0The foursome play struggling Broadway stars travel<\/a>ing to small-town Indiana to support a teen girl who wants to attend prom with her girlfriend.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Prom\u201d began streaming on Netflix on Friday.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
