“#Jimmy Kimmel reportedly used \u2018N-word\u2019 while imitating Snoop Dogg in 1996<\/strong>”
\nJimmy Kimmel, who\u00a0urged actor Tom Arnold to release an alleged \u201cN-word\u201d tape of\u00a0President Trump\u00a0in 2018, admitted years ago that he imitated rapp<\/a>er Snoop Dogg\u2019s voice for a\u00a0track in a\u00a01996 Christmas album \u2014 an original song in which Kimmel\u00a0used the \u201cN-word\u201d several times.<\/p>\n

The admission came in a\u00a0January 2013 podcast\u00a0obtained this weekend by Fox News<\/a>. In the podcast, Kimmel also\u00a0changed his speech pattern\u00a0in an attempt\u00a0to adopt the voice of black comedia<\/a>n George Wallace, in what\u00a0host Adam Carolla called Kimmel\u2019s \u201ccrazy black voice.\u201d Kimmel acknowledged imitating black people on other occasions as well.<\/p>\n

In the Christmas track, a singer mentioned a \u201cfat n\u2014- in a sleigh giving sh\u2014 away,\u201d referring to Santa Claus. The song also referenced \u201cn\u2014\u2013 in the manger,\u201d including associates of King Herod.<\/p>\n

\u201cI told that motherf\u2014er Santa, bring a pick for my afro,\u201d the singer went on. The \u201cthree wise men\u201d were described as \u201cbringing gifts and sh\u2013\u00a0for baby boo in the hay.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\u201cMe and my n\u2014\u2013 down in LBC, we\u2019ll smoke that motherf\u2014\u2014 Christmas tree,\u201d Kimmel said.<\/p>\n

Liner notes from the cassette, obtained by Fox News,\u00a0showed the album was co-produced by \u201cJim Kimmel\u201d and credited Kimmel for all \u201ccomedy material\u201d on the album, except for a handful of unrelated tracks. Kimmel also appeared on the album cover.<\/p>\n

In the 2013\u00a0podcast, Carolla said \u201cJimmy is doing Snoop\u201d in the track, and Kimmel affirmed, \u201cThis is when Snoop Dogg first came out, hit the scene, and I used to imitate him by only saying, \u2018You know what I\u2019m saying?’\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cJimmy, do you only do black people?\u201d someone asks on the podcast.<\/p>\n

\u201cI prefer them, yes,\u201d Kimmel responds, apparently jokingly.<\/p>\n

Also in the 2013\u00a0podcast,\u00a0Carolla interviewed Kimmel about his time on \u201cKevin & Bean.\u201d Kimmel recalled that he once \u201ccalled the president of Comedy Central as George Wallace, the comedian,\u201d from a New York City hotel room after he and friends had been drinking.<\/p>\n

Carolla said Kimmel adopted a \u201ccrazy black voice\u201d to impersonate Wallace.<\/p>\n

Kimmel continued, as Wallace: \u201cI\u00a0just wanna say I had a great time, and thank you for inviting me!\u201d<\/p>\n

Recalling the episode on the podcast, Kimmel intentionally adopted a dialect that Carolla described as \u201cblack.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kimmel remarked, \u201cA lot of people thought it was George Wallace!\u201d<\/p>\n

Carolla then recounted another episode in which Kimmel called \u201cThe John & Jeff Show\u201d as \u201cyour black man.\u201d Kimmel, as recounted by Carolla, responded, \u201cSure \u2019nuff, I am!’\u201d<\/p>\n

Kimmel abruptly announced last Thursday he\u2019s taking the summer off to spend more time with his family. He has been\u00a0tapped to host\u00a0the 72nd\u00a0Primetime Emmy Awards.<\/p>\n

In announcing his vacation, Kimmel didn\u2019t mention that he was under fire for a\u00a0recurring skit in which he dressed in blackface\u00a0for \u201cThe Man Show,\u201d which aired from 1999-2004.<\/p>\n

In 2018, actor Kevin Hart stepped down from hosting the Oscars after homophobic tweets from 2009 to 2011 surfaced.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m taking this summer off to spend even more time with my family,\u201d Kimmel said from his home studio. \u201cThere\u2019s nothing wrong. I\u2019m healthy, my family\u2019s healthy, I just need a couple of months off.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kimmel apparently has disregarded calls to apologize for the blackface controversy.\u00a0A representative from ABC and his talk show did not respond\u00a0to multiple requests for comment from Fox News on Sunday and Monday.<\/p>\n

Nevertheless, in 2018, Kimmel eagerly asked Arnold to produce a purported tape of Trump using the \u201cN-word.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI want to hear this tape! Where is this tape?\u201d Kimmel\u00a0asked Arnold in 2018, his voice rising. \u201cYou keep saying you will! When? When he\u2019s retired?\u201d<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, \u201cTonight Show\u201d host Jimmy Fallon apologized for a 2000 blackface sketch from \u201cSaturday Night Live.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIn 2000, while on SNL, I made a terrible decision to do an impersonation of Chris Rock while in blackface,\u201d Fallon tweeted last May. \u201cThere is no excuse for this. I am very sorry for making this unquestionably offensive decision and thank all of you for holding me accountable.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kimmel, along with other late-night comedians, has strayed into increasingly fraught political waters since Trump\u2019s election.<\/p>\n

Last May, Kimmel aired a misleading clip of\u00a0Vice President Mike Pence\u00a0carrying boxes of personal protective equipment [PPE] into a hospital. Kimmel claimed the boxes were empty, but a reporter pointed out that the full video revealed he simply was teasing staffers about the boxes being empty.<\/p>\n

Kimmel had scolded Pence without revealing the context of the footage.\u00a0The misleading clip was shared on Twitter and attracted over 2.7 million views.<\/p>\n
