Snow, ho, ho!<\/p>\n

The Northeast should brace for a \u201chighly impactful\u201d winter storm starting Wednesday \u2014 a weather wallop that could deliver enough powder to last long enough for a white Christmas, according to Accuweather<\/a>.<\/p>\n

As a powerful storm slamming the West Coast travel<\/a>s east, it could be responsible for anywhere from 6 to 10 inches of snow from Virginia to New York City and possibly into southern New England.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s going to be kind of a fluffy kind of snow,\u201d senior\u00a0Accuweather\u00a0meteorologist\u00a0Tom Kines\u00a0told The Post on Sunday.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s\u00a0certainly the possibility that a lot of this snow can stick around up until Christmas, which obviously makes it easier for Santa,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Depending on the storm\u2019s track, there\u2019s a chance that areas such as Washington, DC, southern New Jersey and Long Island get a messy mix of drenching rain, snow and ice.<\/p>\n

But even outside of those regions, no one should count on an idyllic winter wonderland, Kines said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe downside is there is the wind blowing,\u201d said Kines, who warned strong gusts of up to 30 mph will send the snow swirling, reducing visibility and creating blizzard conditions.<\/p>\n

The storm is expected to arrive Wednesday and continue overnight, keeping people indoors and off the roads.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re expecting the snow to arrive in the afternoon, so the Wednesday evening commute will be a problem,\u201d Kines said.<\/p>\n

The weather expert said the roads won\u2019t likely be cleared in time for the Thursday morning commute, either \u2014 which could mean there\u2019s a \u201chigh likelihood\u201d that schools holding in-person classes close.<\/p>\n

The week\u2019s weather drama will kick off Monday with a quick-hitting storm bringing with it frigid temps.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat the [first] storm might do is, it will bring in some chillier air behind it, so it\u2019s laying the foundation for the rest week,\u201d Kines said.<\/p>\n

Kines said the wintry mix this week means that people will have to be strategic when it comes to holiday shopping plans.<\/p>\n

\u201cPeople that had plans to do shopping this week \u2014 your best best is Tuesday and Friday,\u201d he said.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
