The first vaccinations against the deadly coronavirus will begin to be delivered to New York City\u2019s front-line workers Monday at the Big App<\/a>le\u2019s major public and private hospital systems. <\/p>\n

Health officials hope the delivery of the shots marks the beginning of a turning point in the battle to beat the COVID-19 pandemic, which has killed more than 24,000 people in the five boroughs over the last year. <\/p>\n

Mayor Bill de Blasio told CNN on Monday morning that he was \u201cproud\u201d the first shots were about to be distributed in New York and said that he would visit a hospital owned by the city\u2019s Health and Hospitals Corporation to see it administered. <\/p>\n

One of the city\u2019s largest private hospital systems \u2014 Northwell Health \u2014 announced it would deliver its first shots Monday to two of its front-line employees in an event set at the Long Island Jewish Medical Center in Queens.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
