Ana de Armas<\/strong> will reunite with former costars Ryan Gosling<\/strong> and Chris Evans<\/strong> for\u00a0The Grey Man<\/em><\/strong>, an upcoming Netflix spy movie that the Russo Brothers<\/strong> hope to turn into an entire franchise. De Armas previously worked with Gosling on\u00a0Blade Runner 2049<\/em> and Evans on\u00a0Knives Out<\/em>.\u00a0The Grey Man<\/em> is based on the book series<\/a> by\u00a0Mark Greaney<\/strong> and follows a\u00a0freelance assassin being hunted by a former colleague.<\/p>\n

Deadline has the scoop that Ana de Armas has joined\u00a0The Grey Man<\/em> cast alongside former co-stars Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans. The Russo Brothers are set to direct the project, which is said to be Netflix\u2019s most expensive movie to date. The Russos also wrote the script<\/a>, with their\u00a0Avengers: Endgame<\/a><\/em> writers\u00a0Christopher Markus<\/strong> and Stephen McFeely<\/strong> also contributing.
\nThe Grey Man<\/em> is adapted from the novel by Mark Greaney, and sets up a \u201cdeadly duel between killers as a freelance assassin and former CIA operative named Court Gentry (Gosling) is hunted across the globe by Lloyd Hansen (Evans), a former cohort of Gentry\u2019s at the CIA.\u201d When the film was first announced, Anthony Russo said: \u201cThe movie is a real mano a mano between those two great actors, who represent two different versions of the CIA, in what it can be, and what it can do. For those who were fans of\u00a0Captain America: Winter Soldier<\/em>, this is us moving into that territory in more of a real-world setting. That\u2019s what this movie really means for us.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Grey Man<\/em> book is the first in a series, and eight sequels followed:\u00a0\u00a0On Target<\/i>\u00a0(2010),\u00a0Ballistic<\/i>\u00a0(2011),\u00a0Dead Eye<\/i>\u00a0(2013),\u00a0Back Blast<\/i>\u00a0(2016),\u00a0<\/sup>Gunmetal Gray<\/i>\u00a0(2017),\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0Agent in Place<\/i>\u00a0(2018),\u00a0Mission Critical<\/i>\u00a0(2019), and\u00a0One Minute Out<\/i>\u00a0(2020). Needless to say, the Russos, who are no strangers to sequels, hope to turn this into a full-fledged Netflix movie franchise. \u201cThe idea is to create a franchise and build out a whole universe, with Ryan at the center of it,\u201d Joe Russo said. \u201cWe have all committed to the first movie and that\u2019s got to be great to get us to the second movie. These are master assassins and Gosling\u2019s characters gets burned by the CIA and Evans\u2019 character has to hunt him down.\u201d<\/p>\n

There\u2019s no word yet on who de Armas is playing, but at this point, I\u2019d watch Ana de Armas read the phone book. This won\u2019t be de Armas\u2019 first entry into a spy franchise, either \u2013 she also has a role in the upcoming Bond flick\u00a0No Time to Die<\/em>.<\/p>\n
