The artwork was the last to be sold from \u201cThe Complete MF Collection\u201d that was auctioned that day, with the token featuring each of the collection\u2019s 20 individual digital artworks in a single NFT.<\/p>\n<p>The artworks were inspired by <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/technology\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"4\" title=\"Technology\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">technology<\/a>, nature, and Star Wars, and created by pseudonymous artist \u201cBeeple.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>NFT investors Tim Kang and \u201cMetakovan\u201d had entered into a fierce bidding war for the piece, steadily pushing the price up from $200,000 to $380,000 before Kang entered the last-second blowout bid.<\/p>\n<p>In total, the 20 artworks were auctioned for more than $3.5 million, prompting the artist to tweet a video of his friends dousing him in champagne in celebration.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"und\" dir=\"ltr\"> <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/3XHGfFcYmj\">pic.twitter.com\/3XHGfFcYmj<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 beeple (@beeple) <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/beeple\/status\/1338277789645090822?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">December 14, 2020<\/a>\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>The winning bidder <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/illestrater_\/status\/1338324864327770113?s=20\">praised<\/a> Beeple for the collection, emphasizing the artist\u2019s \u201cprecise attention to detail across the physical and digital spectrum\u201d:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cHis consistent work ethic, creative understanding &amp; divine timing landmarked history for art &amp; crypto and I\u2019m just blessed to participate. My winning bid was not for him and myself only [\u2014] I hope we were able to take [a] stand for the future of creativity, open collaboration, and self-sovereignty through digital signature.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The auction smashed the previous record set for the most-valuable artwork auctioned on Nifty Gateway by 1,300%, with Trevor Jones\u2019 NFT \u201cPicasso\u2019s Bull\u201d sold to Pablo Rodriguez-Fraile of the Museum of Crypto Art for $55,555.55 in August.<\/p>\n<p>NFTs are also beginning to creep out of the digital domain and into the mainstream, with an interactive NFT created by former-pro baseball player turned token artist, Micah Johnson, being exhibited on an electronic billboard in Los Angeles this month.\n<\/p><\/div>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
