\n A Baltimore restaurant manager turned away a black woman and her son due to the boy\u2019s outfit \u2014 despite serving a white child dressed in similar athletic wear, video shows.<\/p>\n

A clip posted to Twitter shows the woman, Marcia Grant, being told by a white manager during a visit to Ouzo Bay over the weekend that the eatery would be unable to accommodate her and her son due to the boy\u2019s athletic shorts, which violated the restaurant\u2019s dress code.<\/p>\n

\u201cUnfortunately we do have a dress code,\u201d the manager told Grant. \u201cUm, if you, you know, if you have some non-athletic shorts.\u201d<\/p>\n

The video then shows a nearby white child dressed in a similar way who was app<\/a>arently allowed to eat at the Greek seafood spot \u2014 but the manager insists the second boy was not wearing athletic shorts.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m sorry, I would love for you to be able to come back and eat here,\u201d the manager said.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo you\u2019re telling me my son can\u2019t eat here because he has on athletic stuff?\u201d Grant pushes back.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo, no, no, just the shorts,\u201d the manager replied. \u201cIt is part of our dress code.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Atlas Restaurant Group, which owns Ouzo Bay, said in a statement hours after the video was posted that the manager had been placed on indefinite leave.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are sickened by this incident,\u201d the statement read. \u201cWe sincerely apologize to Marcia Grant, her son and everyone impacted by this painful incident.\u201d<\/p>\n

The restaurant has also immediately revised its dress code \u2014 which was not \u201cintended to be discriminatory\u201d \u2014 to leave children under the age of 12 exempt from its policies.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe know we failed in this instance and sincerely hope to be afforded the opportunity to meet with Marcia Grant and her son, who both deserved better,\u201d the statement continued.<\/p>\n

In September, another Baltimore eatery owned by the restaurant group, Choptank, banned \u201cbaggy clothing, sunglasses after dark and bandannas,\u201d prompting criticism, the Baltimore Sun reports.<\/p>\n

The restaurant later modified the new dress code, but said the allegations of discrimination were \u201cunfortunate,\u201d the news<\/a>paper reported.<\/p>\n
