Stop me if this surprises you. Merely two days into filming Jackass 4<\/em><\/strong>, two of the leads of the daredevil stunt franchise have already been hospitalized with their injuries. Filming has stalled after the leads were injured in a stunt that reportedly involved a moving treadmill and a tuba.<\/p>\n

CinemaBlend<\/a> reports that\u00a0Jackass 4\u00a0<\/em>leads\u00a0Johnny Knoxville<\/strong>, age 49, and Steve-O<\/strong>, age 46, have already been hospitalized for injuries sustained while filming the latest daredevil stunt film. That should neither shock or surprise anyone with a passing knowledge of\u00a0Jackass<\/em>, which started out as a TV series<\/a> on MTV where young people did dumb life-endangering stunts, and morphed into a movie franchise where older people did dumb life-endangering stunts. It\u2019s been 20 years after the series first launched, and the\u00a0Jackass<\/em> crew are now well into their 40s, and not as spry as they used to be. So it\u2019s no shock that, just two days into filming the fourth installment of\u00a0Jackass<\/em>, Knoxville and Steve-O are in the hospital.
\nThe news<\/a> was revealed by Bam Margera, who\u00a0posted a brief video<\/a>\u00a0to his personal website recorded in a hospital waiting room, describing how Knoxville and Steve-O injured themselves while \u201cjumping on a full-speed treadmill with band equipment.\u201d One of which was a \u201ca fucking tuba,\u201d per Margera, who didn\u2019t seem all that phased, flashing a devil\u2019s sign gesture and signing off with \u201cRock n\u2019 roll.\u201d<\/p>\n

None of this is very surprising, except for the fact that the team is actually going through with another\u00a0Jackass<\/em> movie. I confess I don\u2019t have a lot of familiarity with the\u00a0Jackass<\/em> series, but wasn\u2019t 2010\u2019s\u00a0Jackass 3-D<\/em> supposed to be the team\u2019s swan song, a farewell to the franchise that destroyed their bodies? Hasn\u2019t Knoxville spoken about<\/a> how his long career of putting his life at risk has resulted in scar tissue and broken bones that are putting significant strain on him as he heads into his 50s? But it\u2019s not my business how much the\u00a0Jackass<\/em> team are willing to injure themselves for our entertainment \u2014 and certainly they\u2019re not alone in the life-risking business. Though with\u00a0Knoxville previously stating that the new film would include some \u201cfresh blood,<\/a>\u201d it seems it may be time for the old team to pass on the mantle to the new guys while they finish their stint in the hospital.<\/p>\n

Paramount has set the Jackass 4<\/em>\u00a0release date for\u00a0July 2, 2021<\/strong>\u00a0delaying it from its initial March 5, 2021 date.<\/p>\n
