Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>roved the use of the overfill. <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2020\/12\/16\/health\/Covid-Pfizer-vaccine-extra-doses.html\" class=\"icon none\">The New York Times<\/a> later confirmed that <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news<\/a>.<\/p>\n<div class=\"paywall\">\n       The extra doses \u2014 one or two shots\u2019 worth per vial \u2014 had been at risk of being thrown away, and in some cases had been, since the FDA had said each vial was only for five shots. Politico reported that the extra doses could boost the U.S. supply by as much as 40%.<\/p>\n<p> \u201cGiven the public health emergency, FDA is advising that it is acceptable to use every full dose obtainable,\u201d an FDA spokesperson told Politico.<\/p>\n<p>Vaccine vials are typically filled with a bit extra, to account for potential spillage.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Michael Consuelos, a health-care consultant, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MJConsuelos\/status\/1339013765866676229\" class=\"icon none\">said on Twitter<\/a> that \u201cwe saw this with the H1N1 vaccine [in 2009] and often we could immunize more people than projected. There is always a little overfill. It\u2019s possible to get some extra doses, but we need to make sure we don\u2019t under dose folks.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>The vaccine, developed by Pfizer Inc.<br \/>\n        PFE,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/202877789\/composite\" class=\"negative\">-2.25%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       and Germany\u2019s BioNTech<br \/>\n        BNTX,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/214419716\/composite\" class=\"negative\">-4.87%<\/bg-quote><span>,<\/span><br \/>\n       is still in short supply, and likely will be relatively scarce for months.
