\nAli Larter<\/strong> is responding to\u00a0Leonard Roberts<\/strong>\u2018 bombshell accusations about her allegedly toxic and racist behavior on the set of the NBC\u00a0<\/strong>series<\/a>\u00a0Heroes<\/em>.<\/p>\n

As we reported, on Wednesday, Roberts published a first-person essay in\u00a0Variety<\/em> detailing how he felt he\u2019d been seriously mistreated by his co-star during the show\u2019s run. Roberts, who is Black, alleged Larter\u2019s app<\/a>arent misconduct even went so far as to play a direct part in his abrupt and unexpected dismissal from the show after one season, despite having earned himself a leading role.<\/p>\n

Now, the 44-year-old actress is publicly responding to those allegations for the first time. Late Wednesday evening, the\u00a0Varsity Blues<\/em> alum released a statement to\u00a0TVLine<\/em>, acknowledging Roberts\u2019 accusations and telling the publication (below):<\/p>\n

\u201cI am deeply saddened to hear about Leonard Roberts\u2019 experience on Heroes<\/em> and I am heartbroken reading his perception of our relationship, which absolutely doesn\u2019t match my memory nor experience on the show. I respect Leonard as an artist and I applaud him or anyone using their voice and platform. I am truly sorry for any role I may have played in his painful experience during that time and I wish him and his family the very best.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Hmmm\u2026 it\u2019s a slippery apology, for sure. While Larter\u00a0does<\/em> use the words \u201cI am truly sorry,\u201d she\u2019s vague about \u201cany role I may have played\u201d and further outright says Roberts\u2019 story \u201cdoesn\u2019t match my memory nor experience on the show.\u201d Well isn\u2019t that just convenient, then?!<\/p>\n

The New Jersey-born actress may have some trouble trying to get away with that wishy-washy, half-denial apology, however. As you may recall from when the story first dropped, Variety<\/em> noted that they corroborated and substantiated Roberts\u2019 account\u00a0with ten other people who had worked on the show during its first season<\/em>. That\u2019s quite a bit of confirmation! And thus it\u2019s unlikely that Roberts\u00a0and those other ten people<\/em> all grossly misinterpreted the situation, ya know?!<\/p>\n

Also, recall the infamous little tidbit that popped up in TV Guide<\/em> during the show\u2019s first season \u2014 a blind item about how \u201cone of the show\u2019s leads cannot stand to be in the same room as her leading man, let alone make out with him\u201d \u2014 which makes for a pretty damning nail in the coffin, too. For whatever reason, at the very<\/em> least, it appears Larter clearly didn\u2019t like Roberts (or worse). Beyond that, her issues managed to get him<\/em> fired from the show after that first season.<\/p>\n

One question remains, at least on our end: where were the executive producers and show runner while all this was going on? If ten people could corroborate how poorly Larter treated Roberts at the time, how come no executive took it upon themselves to fix things?! And then when they finally did take action, it was Roberts who got the ax?! Come on now, guys!! That\u2019s bull s**t! Just saying!<\/p>\n
