As president, Joe Biden will face the \u201ccruel Greek god\u201d Nemesis as few presidents have, predicts Victor Davis Hanson at RealClearPolitics<\/a>. After all, he can\u2019t avoid the press forever. He will have \u201cunscript<\/a>ed meetings with foreign leaders.\u201d He may face \u201cdestructive rumors\u201d about his \u201cfaculties or his family\u2019s financial escapades\u201d \u2014 more likely coming from \u201chis own party\u2019s left wing, eager for a Harris presidency,\u201d than Republicans. He will also have \u201can ethical cloud\u201d over his head, and his family or associates may talk. If Republicans take the House in 2022, they could impeach him as Democrats impeached President Trump, and a GOP-run Senate \u201cmight not so easily acquit him.\u201d So \u201ccelebrate Biden\u2019s call to unity.\u201d He just better hope the opposition doesn\u2019t do to him \u201cwhat the Democrats did so bitterly to Trump.\u201d<\/p>\n

DC view: Andrew\u2019s Rotten, No-Good Month<\/strong><\/p>\n

Gov. Cuomo \u201cis arguably the biggest star in the Democratic Party,\u201d who for months won \u201ckudos far and wide .\u2009.\u2009. for his coronavirus-task-force briefings\u201d \u2014 but in recent weeks \u201chas committed some serious missteps, both rhetorically and with his actions,\u201d notes Joe Concha at The Hill<\/a>. His Trump-bashing doubts on the vaccine, including his lament \u201cthat the life-saving vaccines came too early\u201d; his self-praising book and acceptance of an Emmy (\u201cendzone dances and award speeches while hospitals are filling up is never a good look\u201d); his anti-scientific indoor-dining shutdown; his pricey Thursday night fundraiser \u2014 all look awful. In short, \u201cAs 2020 turns to 2021, Andrew Cuomo is proving to be just another politician \u00aduntethered from reality.\u201d<\/p>\n

Libertarian: The Revolt Against Lockdowns<\/strong><\/p>\n

Evidence shows \u201cAmericans are thoroughly sick of impoverishing, \u00adsocial<\/a>ly isolating lockdown orders\u201d and are revolting against politicians who issue them, reports Reason\u2019s J.D. Tuccille<\/a>. \u201cBusinesses and individuals are ignoring restrictive rules that threaten their livelihoods, stifle social contact and threaten to strangle the necessary interactions of everyday life.\u201d Small businesses have been hard hit, with 17 percent of restaurants \u201cclosed permanently or long-term.\u201d Now \u201cregular people driven to the brink of poverty and despair\u201d are ignoring the mandates of politicians with \u201crules are only for the little people\u201d attitudes and \u201cpushing back against lockdown \u00adorders that they find more threatening than COVID-19.\u201d Gov. Cuomo, Mayor de Blasio \u201cand their colleagues near and far may loudly announce new restrictions on life,\u201d but \u201cever-shrinking ranks\u201d are \u201cwilling to listen.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hate watch: Warnock\u2019s Ugly Israel Record<\/strong><\/p>\n

Georgia Senate candidate Raphael Warnock insists he isn\u2019t anti-Israel \u2014 but, contend Steven Emerson and David M. Swindle at The Investigative Project on Terrorism<\/a>, his assurances are belied by a long record of \u201cone-sided, unfounded\u201d broadsides against the Jewish state. To wit, a 2019 letter signed by the pastor falsely blamed Israel for \u00ad\u201cundrinkable water\u201d in Gaza \u2014 when independent probes \u201cfound Hamas responsible,\u201d because it spent humanitarian funds on terror. And in sermons, Warnock has demonized Israel, condemning it for \u201cshooting down unarmed Palestinian sisters and brothers like birds of prey\u201d based on tendentious interpretations of events. Can pro-Israel voters trust someone who \u201cwas comfortable signing his name to the claim that Israel was comparable to multiple racist, totalitarian states?\u201d<\/p>\n

Sports desk: Corporate Wokeness vs. US History<\/strong><\/p>\n

Major League Baseball\u2019s Cleveland Indians are changing their name in the latest case of \u201ccorporate wokeness fixing a problem that doesn\u2019t actually exist,\u201d sighs The Federalist\u2019s David Marcus<\/a>. \u201cThe term \u2018Indian\u2019 to indicate a Native American is not even remotely racist.\u201d Indeed, it\u2019s the \u201cterm preferred by many Native Americans,\u201d which is why the Smithsonian\u2019s National Museum of the American Indian is called that. Yes, the name may have arisen from Christopher Columbus\u2019 geographic mistake, but so what? \u201cThat was 500 years ago. And in the time since, the American Indian, though in many cases badly mistreated by the United States government, also became a central part of American history and legend. That is what we really risk losing in this damnation of history.\u201d<\/p>\n
