Shirley Grant, the veteran talent manager who helped launch the careers of stars including the Jonas Brothers and Christina Ricci, has died.<\/p>\n

Grant, whose clients through the years also included Keshia Knight Pulliam and J.D. Roth, passed Tuesday evening in her native New Jersey.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you met my grandma, you\u2019d be an instant friend,\u201d said Dan Kadison, Grant\u2019s grandson and a former Post scribe. \u201cShe was funny, smart, savvy.<\/p>\n

\u201cHow many grandsons can say that their grandma has a picture of her with Tom Cruise [and] has been featured on the \u2018E! True Hollywood Story\u2019 about the Jonas Brothers?\u201d<\/p>\n

From the talent firm she launched in 1978, Shirley Grant Management, Grant, who was born in 1920, built a family business that endures and inspires over 40 years later.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe really was an inspiration,\u201d said Kadison. \u201cHere\u2019s a person who decided to start a business from the basement of her home and turned it into a multi-generational success.\u201d<\/p>\n

That success was shared, as through the years Grant shepherded several young talents to stardom.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe truly had a sign on her door that said it was the doorway to stardom,\u201d said Kadison. \u201cAnd, for so many, it was. \u2026 She really launched the careers of so many kids that wanted to get into the industry.\u201d<\/p>\n

In addition to Kadison, Grant is survived by her son, Rob, daughter, Jeri, and granddaughter Elissa, according to Variety<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In an Instagram remembrance<\/a>, talent manager and former employee Dave McKeown asked that donations in her memory be made to The Actors Fund.<\/p>\n

Though she dedicated her life to helping others become stars, Grant was one in her own right, Kadison said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s how she should be remembered, as another star in the sky,\u201d he said. \u201cShe was a real shining spirit in life, and she\u2019s a real shining spirit in passing. She will be with us always.\u201d\n <\/p><\/div>\n
