However, as the markets have \u2014 since March \u2014 been led to believe that a deal was going to be reached eventually, the greater risk is if the U.K. departs without a deal,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n<p>That outcome would prove a \u201cshock\u201d to markets and could send the pound down to $1.20, he said. Tougher rules will be imposed from Saturday for millions in the U.K., and that comes amid the crucial Christmas holiday season. <\/p>\n<p>Retailers were under pressure on Friday, with shares of Next<br \/>\n        NXT,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/200704121\/delayed\" class=\"negative\">-1.99%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       and Kingfisher<br \/>\n        KGF,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/200571451\/delayed\" class=\"negative\">-2.28%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       both down over 2%, and B&amp;M European Value Retail\u2019s<br \/>\n        BME,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/208742159\/delayed\" class=\"negative\">-1.36%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       shares fell 1.5%.
