Using the Shortcuts app<\/a>\u00a0(included on every iPhone running iOS 13 or higher) you can trigger an action at sunrise or sunset. This can come in handy for setting alarms, playing music, and other tasks. Here\u2019s how to set it up.<\/p>\n

First, open the Shortcuts app. If you can\u2019t find the icon, swipe downward with one finger from the middle of the screen. Type \u201cShortcuts\u201d in the search bar, and then tap \u201cShortcuts\u201d when it appears.<\/p>\n

Tap \u201cAutomation\u201d at the bottom.<\/p>\n

\"In<\/p>\n

If you\u2019ve previously set up automations on your iPhone, tap the plus sign (+), and then tap \u201cCreate Personal Automation.\u201d If this is the first automation you\u2019ve ever created, tap \u201cCreate Personal Automation.\u201d<\/p>\n

On the \u201cNew Automation\u201d menu, tap \u201cTime of Day.\u201d<\/p>\n

Here, you can select whether the automation will be triggered at \u201cSunrise\u201d or \u201cSunset.\u201d<\/p>\n

On the next menu, you can select a time offset, such as \u201c30 Minutes Before Sunset\u201d or \u201cAt Sunset.\u201d The same applies to the sunrise options. Select your preferred option, and then tap \u201cDone.\u201d<\/p>\n

After you\u2019ve selected either \u201cSunrise\u201d or \u201cSunset,\u201d if you want the action to repeat \u201cDaily,\u201d \u201cWeekly,\u201d or \u201cMonthly,\u201d tap your preference. If you want an action to occur every day at sunrise or sunset, tap \u201cDaily.\u201d<\/p>\n

\"In<\/p>\n

Tap \u201cNext\u201d to go to the \u201cActions\u201d menu. This is where you define what you want to happen at sunrise or sunset. You can select any action available in shortcuts, including displaying an alert, setting a timer, starting an app, and more. You can also chain multiple actions together.<\/p>\n

In our example, we\u2019ll set our action to start playing a song from our Apple Music Library.<\/p>\n

After you define your action(s), tap \u201cNext.\u201d You\u2019ll see an overview of the entire automation. Tap any section here to go back and make changes.<\/p>\n

Before you move forward, toggle-Off the \u201cAsk Before Running\u201d option. In the confirmation pop-up that appears, tap \u201cDon\u2019t Ask.\u201d If this is enabled, your automation won\u2019t run unless you check your screen and confirm it first.<\/p>\n

Tap \u201cDone,\u201d and you\u2019ll see the automation you just created in your \u201cAutomation\u201d list.<\/p>\n

If you ever want to disable an automation, just tap it in the \u201cAutomation\u201d list. In the next menu, toggle-Off the \u201cEnable This Automation\u201d option.<\/p>\n

\"Tap<\/p>\n

You can return to the \u201cAutomation\u201d section in the Shortcuts app at any time to enable an automation once again. If you ever want to completely delete an automation, just swipe left on it in the list, and then tap \u201cDelete.\u201d<\/p>\n
