\n Contorted cats deserve love too.<\/p>\n

Pitoe, a 4-year-old British shorthair with a crooked spine and a sweet face, was almost euthanized as a kitten, according to her owners. But after being adopted by her merciful veterinarian, Pitoe now lives the carefree life that should befall all cats.<\/p>\n

\u201cPitoe has severe scoliosis, which makes her body a lot shorter than any normal cat\u2019s,\u201d a woman named Marie wrote on Reddit<\/a>. \u201cBecause of that, she has grown a lot more in width.\u201d<\/p>\n

Marie says that Pitoe, who now belongs to Marie\u2019s grandparents, was brought to her parents\u2019 veterinary practice as a kitten after a pet vendor who bought a \u201cbad nest\u201d decided that no one would want a cat with scoliosis.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy grandparents \u2014 who adore animals \u2014 had wanted a cat for a while but were afraid to get one, as they feared it might jump over the balcony of their apartment and harm itself,\u201d she explained. \u201cMy mom realized that Pitoe, due to her scoliosis, would probably be a very calm kitty.\u201d<\/p>\n

The doctor stepped in and insisted the cat join their family, which includes veterinarians who can make sure the special-needs kitty is properly treated.<\/p>\n

Now, Pitoe lives a pampered existence with her keepers. Marie also started an Instagram page, @PitoeTheCat, for their one-of-a-kind kitty.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe owner happ<\/a>ily agreed,\u201d she said, \u201cand a match made in heaven was created.\u201d<\/p>\n

Pitoe\u2019s curvature of the spine prevents her from being able to jump, \u201cbut she can waddle, run, play, and climb like a pro,\u201d Marie said.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe\u2019s absolutely spoiled rotten, to be honest, as most of the day [my grandparents] are at home,\u201d she continued. \u201cSo most of their attention goes to little Pitoe, and she\u2019ll gladly accept it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Marie later told Bored Panda that her family was surprised by how \u201cplayful and active she can be,\u201d and insists Pitoe is \u201cpain-free.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cShe can\u2019t jump at all \u2026 and one of her hind legs isn\u2019t as functional, so she often drags,\u201d said Marie. They also keep her on a strict diet to help Pitoe maintain a manageable weight.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut she has no pain, which is the most important,\u201d Marie continued. She also claimed that anyone who gets to know Pitoe in person will attest to her charisma.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe first thing she\u2019ll do when someone new comes around is waddle toward them and go lie on her back \u2014 no one can resist her after that,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Marie hopes that Pitoe\u2019s success story will inspire others to take on challenging felines.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s crazy to think how close she was to being put down, and now she\u2019s the love of my grandparents\u2019 \u2014 and our entire family\u2019s \u2014 life,\u201d she said. \u201cIt\u2019s so worth it giving a special-needs cat a chance.\u201d<\/p>\n
