Britain\u2019s longest-suffering coronavirus patient \u2014 hospitalized for 222 days, or nearly eight months \u2014 is a father of five whose family more than once refused to let him be taken off life support, according to the Mirror<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Now their faith in dad Ali Sakallioglu, 57, has been rewarded.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was given zero chance of survival, so it feels like a miracle to be able to celebrate Christmas,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n

\u201cOn three different occasions they phoned my daughter and told her to get everyone down because I wasn\u2019t going to make it,\u201d he recalled.<\/p>\n

Now, he said, \u201cI can\u2019t wait for Christmas \u2013 I have to be careful as I want to be here next Christmas.\u201d<\/p>\n

The cabbie will be sitting down to dinner on the holiday with his girlfriend, one of his sons and the son\u2019s girlfriend at the family\u2019s home in South London. <\/p>\n

He\u2019s also eager to be vaccinated against COVID-19 so he can go back to work.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019d encourage everyone to get it,\u201d Sakallioglu said of the vaccine.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
