A gunman is being sought after opening fire at a California shopping mall Saturday evening, wounding one man and sending panicked customers to run for cover, authorities said. <\/p>\n

Officers responded to the Great Mall in Milpitas around 5:20 p.m. on reports of a shooting outside an Old Navy store, Milpitas Police Department Lt. Tyler Jamison told the Los Angeles Times<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Jamison declined to comment on the victim\u2019s condition. <\/p>\n

Videos on social media<\/a> showed people locked in stores <\/a>before police released them to safety. <\/p>\n

Earlier, Milpitas police on Twitter urged people to shelter in place until cops cleared the area. <\/p>\n

\u201cALL CLEAR, teams have concluded their searches of the mall interior. Everyone who was sheltering-in-place has been escorted out safely. There were no additional victims associated with this shooting,\u201d the department tweeted <\/a>around 9:30 p.m.<\/p>\n

Witness Angelo Palma said he and his friend stopped at the mall after their church meeting when they saw people running. <\/p>\n

\u201cWe started running,\u201d Palma told KNTV<\/a>. \u201cEveryone just started running. People were running forward, people were running back. People were falling. It was hectic.\u201d<\/p>\n

An investigation is continuing, and police have not released information about the suspect\u2019s whereabouts.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
