Some savvy planning and a little thoughtfulness goes a long way. So, rather than hosting a \u201ctraditional\u201d virtual Christmas party where everyone raises a glass, stares into a video mosaic abyss and dresses professionally from the waist up, plan a holiday event that they will actually get something out of.<\/p>\n<p>If you\u2019re in a managerial role: \u201cHire an instructor and send all materials ahead of time to everyone\u2019s homes,\u201d said Lauren Cohen, an executive and career coach. \u201cSome options include painting, crafts or cooking and there are numerous other creative options.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Be sure to plan the event during work hours so your employees consider it a fun treat versus something stressful they have to attend during precious downtime.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Higher_ups_Give_everyone_an_extra_personal_day\"><\/span><strong>Higher ups: Give everyone an extra personal day<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Speaking of precious time off, now\u2019s the time to surprise your cohorts with extra paid time off to express your gratitude during this supremely difficult time.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA great way to celebrate this is to send everyone a journal in advance with a thank you note,\u201d said Cohen. \u201cInclude some information about the benefits of journaling as a way to demonstrate care for their emotional well-being. A simple gesture like this can improve employee morale and foster improved relationships with colleagues.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Or, channel our friends over the pond who frequently give employees a day off around the holidays to knock off gift shopping, get ahead on holiday meal prep and decorate their homes. Remote schooling for kiddos, caring for isolated elderly family members and pandemic-related stress, means folks will feel more grateful if you tell them to sign off Slack and deck their halls.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Forget_the_meeting_and_have_the_team_let_their_hair_down\"><\/span><strong>Forget the meeting and have the team let their hair down<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>A little team bonding goes a long way. \u201cBreak your team up in groups and play ice breaker <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/game\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"7\" title=\"Game\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">game<\/a>s to get to know everyone better,\u201d said Mitchell. \u201cPeople love to talk about themselves and what they\u2019re good at.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>If you want to take things up a notch, have a virtual talent show and \u201ccome together at the end of the day and have each member talk about what they learned about their teammates.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>If this proves successful, you may want to set aside a day each week and schedule informal lectures, games or a digital \u201clounge\u201d for casual discussion in lieu of the regular office grind.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Donate_to_charity_together\"><\/span><strong>Donate to charity together<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>With so many struggling in the pandemic, there\u2019s no shortage of worthy causes to donate to right now. If you\u2019re in a position of power, start a fund-raiser for an organization that resonates with your company\u2019s mission or is local to your workplace. <\/p>\n<p>Work with corporate or HR to institute some kind of employer match or volunteer out of your own pocket to match employee contributions up to a certain amount.<br \/>Leadership can also get creative with this one.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIncrease employee engagement and job satisfaction by encouraging each employee to film and post a short video on their <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">social<\/a>-media channels about a cause they care about,\u201d suggested Cohen. \u201cShare these videos on your company\u2019s pages too. Once they post, donate $75 [or another designated amount] in their name to the nonprofit of their choice.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Send_some_snail_mail\"><\/span><strong>Send some snail mail<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>\u201cThis year looks different but there is no reason that traditions have to all fall by the wayside,\u201d said Cohen. \u201cSend personalized treats, cards and small gifts to [the homes of everyone who reports to you] so they feel special and recognized,\u201d she said, noting that it\u2019s important for bosses to take time to send a heartfelt note or schedule a call with everyone on their team.<\/p>\n<p>You might also mail a handwritten holiday card to your boss \u2014 it makes a big impression \u2014 and if you can afford it, include a small gift like a book on a topic they\u2019re passionate about or a wall calendar themed around their favorite sports team, hometown or a band they love.\n            <\/p><\/div>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
