\n No one wins when Trevor Bauer and Aubrey Huff start flinging petty, expletive-laden insults at each other over social media.<\/p>\n

The war of words between the controversial duo \u2014 both of whom are well-acquainted in the art of the Twitter tirade \u2014 began when Huff quote-tweeted the 29-year-old Reds\u2019 pitcher after he said he would \u201ccontinue holding [his] tongue\u201d about the current status of MLB\u2019s restart troubles.<\/p>\n

\u201cCan we remind @BauerOutage of his career 4 ERA, 3.5 BB per 9 innings, & 10 game<\/a>s over .500 winning % is a 4\/5th starter salary in @mlb & maybe keep quiet before he\u2019s exposed, please & thank you,\u201d Huff wrote. \u201cHe\u2019s a great tweeter. #MLB pitcher? That\u2019s debatable.\u201d<\/p>\n

Both Bauer and Huff are extremely outspoken on social media and frequently use their platforms to broadcast divisive statements. The 43-year-old former Giants player proudly boasts about his opposition to issues such as gun control, women in sports, analytics and vaccines. In November, he came under fire for a particularly offensive joke about kidnapp<\/a>ing and enslaving Iranian women and was banned from Giants\u2019 alumni events in February.<\/p>\n

\u201cTrying to tell someone not to tweet is\u2026shall we call it, odd\u2026coming from you Aubs,\u201d Bauer wrote back. \u201cHere, have some more attention. I\u2019ll forward some followers your way.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bauer \u2014 who has made contentious remarks about climate change, 9\/11 and Barack Obama \u2014 has amassed nearly 280,000 followers, dwarfing Huff\u2019s flock of about 125,000. Clearly triggered by the comment, Huff fired off some very personal jabs, even attacking Bauer\u2019s manhood.<\/p>\n

\u201cAttention is all you crave Trev. I never had social media when I played. I was a team player,\u201d he wrote. \u201cI wasn\u2019t trying to build an outside brand for fans to suck my d\u2013k. You\u2019re a cuck. You have low T. I suggest you inject yourself with a bit of testosterone.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cOh no a random twitter account word vomited at me whatever shall I do,\u201d Bauer replied. \u201cApparently connecting with fans is a bad thing these days, who knew ??\u200d\u2642\ufe0f thanks for recognizing my brand building ability though Aubs. About the nicest thing I\u2019ve ever seen you tweet.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe fact you said in your 1st tweet, \u2018I\u2019ll forward some followers your way,\u2019 tells me everything I need to know about you @BauerOutage,\u201d Huff fired back. \u201cYou\u2019d rather build a brand than win. That\u2019s why I have 2 World Series<\/a> rings & you j\u2013k off to analytic spin rate geek fans like @keithlaw.\u201d<\/p>\n

Next, Bauer digs in with stats and states that his \u201cwins above replacement\u201d is higher than Huff\u2019s.<\/p>\n

\u201cThanks pookie. I know some people are only capable of doing one thing at a time. Others of us can walk and chew bubble gum simultaneously,\u201d he wrote. \u201cBetter at wining, and tweeting.\u201d<\/p>\n

Huff replied with a photo of his two World Series rings and said, \u201cI\u2019ll take these 2 rings over your .1% WAR advantage @BauerOutage The fact you value an individual nerd stat over team wins is textbook participation trophy generation.\u201d<\/p>\n

Without waiting for another reply from Bauer, an impatient Huff replied again with a screenshot of his own stats and the message, \u201cHey sugar tits where you getting your nerd stats from? I had no idea what my career @mlb war was until you mentioned it. So I had to check it out. Maybe research before you tweet @BauerOutage.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWelcome to the world of advanced stats,\u201d Bauer replied sarcastically. \u201cI can teach you if you ask nicely, princess! Or we can just stick to your .111 batting average in the post season on your way to earning your participation trophy.\u201d<\/p>\n

Huff deflected, and brought up Bauer\u2019s freak pinkie accident during the 2016 World Series that he suffered while handling a drone.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m sure your @Indians teammates were thrilled with that cool hobby of yours @BauerOutage,\u201d he said. \u201cThe @Cubs players & fans thank you! #participationtrophy Trophy.\u201d<\/p>\n

The fight concluded (for now) with a vulgar, two-part video series from Huff dedicated to Bauer titled, \u201cNerds have infiltrated Major League Baseball.\u201d\n <\/p><\/div>\n
