Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez recorded her experience<\/a> getting the COVID-19 vaccine and shared it with her 8.2 million Instagram followers.<\/p>\n

The freshman representative of parts of The Bronx and Queens on Friday night shared video of herself in the lead up to the shot \u2014 including filling out a questionnaire \u2014 the injection itself, as well as how she felt afterwards.<\/p>\n

\u201cI would would never, ever ask you to do something I wasn\u2019t willing to do myself,\u201d she wrote in the post. <\/p>\n

The Democratic social<\/a>ist also answered questions from followers, saying she was experiencing some minor symptoms after the inoculation.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have a little muscle soreness in my arm which is not unusual with any shot. The second thing that I\u2019m feeling is fatigue \u2014 but also, it\u2019s been a really long time since I had a break,\u201d the rep said, alluding to the weekend\u2019s marathon session on Capitol Hill.<\/p>\n

Ocasio-Cortez also tried to explain in layman\u2019s terms how the mRNA vaccine<\/a> differs from a traditional inoculation \u2014 by teaching cells how to make a protein that triggers an immune response, instead of injecting the patient with a weakened or inactivated strain of the virus.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s kind of like the difference between if you had a burglar and then he broke into your house and you learn to to fight him versus if someone gave you a picture of the burglar\u2026 if you see that picture and you see that guy walking towards your house, you\u2019re like \u2018oh I know that guy, he\u2019s a burglar,’\u201d the 31-year-old said.<\/p>\n

Ocasio-Cortez said she and other members of the House of Representatives were being \u201curged to take [the vaccine] as part of the government\u2019s plan,\u201d adding in her post that the measure was \u201cin accordance with national security protocols.\u201d<\/p>\n

But the video didn\u2019t go down well with all of her followers \u2014 with some questioning why politicians were getting the shot before many healthcare workers had received theirs.<\/p>\n

\u201cAOC, I love you, but I\u2019m a nurse and I\u2019m still waiting to get mine so what exactly qualifies politicians to get a vaccine before healthcare workers?\u201d one follower commented. <\/p>\n

\u201cWhy are you getting this before health care workers? I put breathing tubes in people\u2019s airways for 13hrs a day,\u201d griped another.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis feels as self-serving as every other politician. It\u2019s disapp<\/a>ointing and a slap in the face to those of us who have showed up since March to care for others. National Security won\u2019t be impacted by my shifts this week with COVID patients at an all time high in the hospital and no vaccine in sight.. but I\u2019ll still providing anesthesia to very sick people and not seeing my family while politicians get prioritized over me and my coworkers. Enjoy your time off with your vaccine.. I\u2019ll be standing in the n95 for 13+hrs a day.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ocasio-Cortez\u2019s dog Deco also did not seem enthused by the video \u2014 it could be heard in the background loudly snoring throughout her explanations.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
