“#NJ nursing homes won’t get COVID-19 vaccine this week<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

New Jersey nursing home residents won\u2019t be getting vaccinated Monday \u2014 because state officials missed the deadline.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn order to start on the 21st there was a deadline of the 7th \u2026 we missed that date by a day,\u201d Health Commissioner Judith Persichilli admitted at a press conference<\/a> Friday.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe asked to start on the 21st and they said, \u2018No, you\u2019ll start on the 28th.\u2019 It was as simple as that,\u201d Persichilli said.<\/p>\n

She blamed the \u201csheer volume of information that had to be inputted\u201d for the more than 600 long-term care facilities, skilled nursing homes and assisted living facilities for the missed deadline.<\/p>\n

The mishap comes as New Jersey is also getting 20 percent fewer doses of the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines through the end of the year.<\/p>\n

The Garden State had been promised 492,075 doses of the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines this month, but will only get 392,800, Persichilli said.<\/p>\n
