“#Jets players snubbed by Pro Bowl<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

The Jets have two big building blocks in the trenches, but Mekhi Becton and Quinnen Williams still have some work left to do to earn the respect of the NFL.<\/p>\n

Becton, the rookie left tackle, and Williams, the second-year defensive tackle, were left off the AFC Pro Bowl roster that was announced Monday night as the Jets were left out completely. The game<\/a> won\u2019t actually be played because of the COVID-19 pandemic, but Becton and Williams figured to have the Jets\u2019 best shot to be honored<\/p>\n

Instead, the Jets will not have any Pro Bowlers for the first time since 2017.<\/p>\n

Becton, the No. 11-overall pick in April, had won the fan vote for AFC offensive tackles, but it only accounted for one-third of the vote, along with coaches and players. Laremy Tunsil, Eric Fisher and Orlando Brown were named the AFC\u2019s three Pro Bowl tackles.<\/p>\n

The 6-foot-7, 364-pound Becton was key to the Jets\u2019 first win of the season Sunday as part of an offensive line that held Aaron Donald and a dangerous Rams defensive line in check.<\/p>\n

\u201cMekhi was doing what he\u2019s been doing for the majority of the year,\u201d coach Adam Gase said Monday. \u201cHe did a good job moving the line of scrimmage. Obviously when we run to the left, he tries to punch a hole there and gives our guys some breathing room.\u201d<\/p>\n

Williams, who was beat out by defensive tackles Chris Jones, Cameron Heyward and Calais Campbell, made a huge impact as well and recorded his seventh sack of the season before leaving the Jets\u2019 victory over the Rams in the third quarter with a concussion.<\/p>\n

\u201cQuinnen was all over the place,\u201d Gase said. \u201cHe\u2019s played well this year. I really love seeing how quick off the ball he was [Sunday] and plays he made in the backfield, the disruption that he was causing throughout the game, it was great to see that.\u201d<\/p>\n
