\n Macy\u2019s isn\u2019t letting New York down: It will give the city some fine fireworks for Independence Day despite the pandemic \u2014 albeit not via the traditional show.<\/p>\n

Rather than the usual one-night grand display, the retailer will offers lights in the sky over four nights and (in a first) reaching all five boroughs. Five-minute displays will launch from undisclosed locations from June 29 to July 1 and on the Fourth itself.<\/p>\n

Though short, they\u2019ll \u201cshow Macy\u2019s signature pyrotechnic design and scale,\u201d company leaders vow.<\/p>\n

The brevity is aimed at keeping people from gathering to watch. But, \u201cwith heights reaching up to 1,000 feet from some firing locations, staying close to home and following social<\/a> distancing guidelines is the best way to enjoy the show,\u201d the Mayor\u2019s Office says.<\/p>\n

NBC\u2019s national broadcast will feature a collection of the shorter sparks, plus the live grand finale, all \u201cchoreographed to a rousing score.\u201d<\/p>\n

Macy\u2019s storied flagship at Herald Square saw some of the worst looting a few weeks back. It\u2019s good to see that management hasn\u2019t given up on the city as a result \u2014 New Yorkers haven\u2019t.<\/p>\n

After these last three months, though, we can sure stand some spectacle.\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
