As a result,\u00a0several small exchanges have already halted XRP trading.<\/p>\n<p>So far, three small exchanges, namely OSL, Beaxy and CrossTower have either temporarily stopped trading or removed XRP.<\/p>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.cointelegraph.com\/uploads\/2020-12\/40689f06-0d64-44ca-a0de-4142f10c05ec.png\" alt=\"\" title=\"\"><figcaption style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>The daily XRP price chart (Coinbase). Source: TradingView.com<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"More_exchanges_may_delist_XRP\"><\/span>More exchanges may delist XRP<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>According to prominent lawyers in the cryptocurrency industry, exchanges that list XRP are at risk of XRP is deemed a security.<\/p>\n<p>Hailey Lennon, a partner at Anderson Kill, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/stephendpalley\/status\/1341484450589372423\/photo\/1\">said<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cYou know who is at risk if XRP is considered a security? EVERY EXCHANGE THAT LISTS XRP.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The U.S. SEC alleges Ripple of paying money to exchanges to permit the \u201cbuying and selling of XRP\u201d on their platforms.<\/p>\n<p>The official lawsuit filed by the SEC said that Ripple entered into agreements with at least ten digital asset trading platforms. The lawsuit <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/static1.squarespace.com\/static\/5ac136ed12b13f7c187bdf21\/t\/5fe2c21fb47c395086f89430\/1608696357583\/SEC+v+ripple+.pdf\">reads<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cIn 2017 and 2018, Ripple also entered into agreements with at least ten digital asset trading platforms\u2014none of which were registered with the SEC in any capacity, and at least two of which have principal places of business in the United States\u2014providing for listing and trading incentives with respect to XRP. Ripple paid these platforms a fee, typically in XRP, to permit the buying and selling of XRP on their systems and sometimes incentives for achieving volume metrics.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>If XRP is officially deemed a security, Lennon noted that the ten exchanges cited by the lawsuit are likely to see the biggest risk.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">And my guess is they would start with these 10<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/5W6btHERmM\">https:\/\/t.co\/5W6btHERmM<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Hailey Lennon (@HaileyLennonBTC) <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/HaileyLennonBTC\/status\/1341484841842294784?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">December 22, 2020<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Brad Garlinghouse, the CEO of Ripple, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/ripple.com\/insights\/the-secs-attack-on-crypto-in-the-united-states\/\">said<\/a> he would \u201caggressively fight\u201d and \u201cprove our case\u201d with co-founder Chris Larsen. <\/p>\n<p>Garlinghouse emphasized that he has the option to individually settle with the SEC, but has decided not to take that route.\u00a0Hence, the final court decision in the U.S. is needed to officially conclude whether XRP is or is not a security.<\/p>\n<p>Some exchanges will likely halt trading in the foreseeable future until the formal court decision gets released. OSL, an over-the-counter (OTC) and cryptocurrency exchange in Asia, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/cryptoSqueeze\/status\/1341656718418165760?s=20\">said<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cIn light of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission&#8217;s enforcement action against Ripple Labs Inc. and two of its executives, we have suspended all $XRP payment in and trading services on the OSL platform, effective im<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">media<\/a>tely and until further notice.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"XRP_price_at_risk\"><\/span>XRP price at risk<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>From a technical standpoint, traders say that XRP is in a do or die situation where it would have to bounce strongly at the current level at around $0.35 or face more downside.<\/p>\n<p>Below $0.35, the chances of a bigger drop to early 2020 levels increase. He <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AlexSaundersAU\/status\/1341624633842257922\">wrote<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cWith a plethora of coins offering enormous upside. It&#8217;s ludicrous to emotionally attach yourself to $XRP now they are being sued by the SEC. Exchanges will be delisting &amp; financial services industry won&#8217;t dare touch it until resolved.
