Whodini rapper John \u201cEcstasy\u201d Fletcher has died at 56 years old.<\/p>\n

Musician and journalist Questlove broke the news<\/a> on Wednesday afternoon.<\/p>\n

\u201cOne love to Ecstasy of the legendary #Whodini,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis man was legendary and a pivotal member of one of the most legendary groups in hip hop. This is sad man.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ecstasy formed the group Whodini with Jalil Hutchins in Brooklyn, New York, in 1982, before DJ Grandmaster Dee joined in 1986.<\/p>\n

The trio were responsible for hits \u201cThe Haunted House of Rock,\u201d \u201cFriends\u201d and \u201cFreaks Come Out at Night.\u201d<\/p>\n

The group received the Hip Hop Icon Award at the third annual Black Music Honors in 2018.<\/p>\n

Following the news of his death, several artists took to social media<\/a> to share their condolences.<\/p>\n

Ice Cube posted a photo of the artist, writing: \u201cThank you Ecstasy for showing us how to do it. RIP.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rapper Jermaine Dupri shared a video of Fletcher, with the caption: \u201cMy God, this one hurts me so bad,I can\u2019t even believe I\u2019m posting this,Ex you know I love you thank you for every word,every conversation every good time,may your soul Rest In Power #whodini q.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cRIP to Ecstasy from http:\/\/Whodini.one<\/a> of the most under appreciated voices in hip hop. Too many hits! Condolences to his fam,\u201d rapper Q-Tip wrote.<\/p>\n
