\n Howard Mittman is out as chief executive of Bleacher Report and Lenny Daniels \u2014 head of the sports Web site\u2019s owner, Turner Sports \u2014 will run the site on an interim basis.<\/p>\n

Daniels broke the stunning news<\/a> to colleagues on Tuesday morning in a statement that suggests he\u2019s been eyeing changes atop the popular-but-bawdy sports site.<\/p>\n

\u201cOver the last several months, I\u2019ve given a lot of thought to how we can further grow the B\/R business and set it up for long-term success,\u201d Daniels said in announcing the news.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs part of that process, much consideration has gone into how we can best utilize our collective Turner Sports resources to help in those efforts.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s become clear to me that significant change needs to occur now,\u201d Daniels said about the Mittman departure and Daniels will \u201cassume overall responsibility for B\/R.\u201d Mittman did not respond to calls and emails seeking comment.<\/p>\n

He was recruited in 2017 from Cond\u00e9 Nast, where he was publisher of Wired Media<\/a> Group, GQ and Golf Digest at a time when digital sports app<\/a>eared to be booming. He joined Bleacher Report as chief revenue officer and chief marketing officer, and in February 2019 was elevated to the top spot when co-founder Dave Finocchio was ousted.<\/p>\n

Mittman pushed to develop some premium content and e-commerce brands, but Bleacher Report, like many media outlets, has suffered from a loss of advertising during the pausing of all pro and college sports due to the coronavirus pandemic.<\/p>\n

A spokesman at Bleacher Report said there is currently no plan to name a new CEO, and that its top executives will report to Daniels for now.\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
