The initiative was selected based on feedback from community members, businesses, and innovators.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Model_zone\"><\/span>Model zone<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>\u201cTransportation and technology each have the ability to connect communities, create jobs, and contribute to progress on sustainability, equity, and economic growth \u2014 and Los Angeles takes pride in serving as a testing ground for dynamic and innovative mobility solutions,\u201d said Mayor Garcetti.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe first-ever Transportation Technology Innovation Zone will unite local businesses, workers,\u00a0and inventors around how to revolutionize mobility in the West Valley, and it will serve as a model for what\u2019s possible as more zones come online in areas across Los Angeles.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In May, the UML issued a<span>\u00a0<\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/storage.googleapis.com\/uploads.app.urbanleap.io\/180697025735757rfi_warner_center_final__1__pdf\">Request for Information<\/a><span>\u00a0<\/span>(RFI) to understand the market for products and services after it had conducted local interviews, hosted workshops, and completed qualitative, quantitative research in the area.<\/p>\n<p>A second pilot project, set to launch in the spring, will create mini-mobility hubs throughout the neighborhood.<\/p>\n<p>UML\u2019s newly <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ointed board includes experts from the mobility innovation industry, including Ashley Hand, Co-Founder of<span>\u00a0<\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/cityfi.co\/\">Cityfi<\/a>; Justine Johnson, Mobility Strategist at<span>\u00a0<\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ford.co.uk\/experience-ford\/careers\/business-functions\/smart-mobility\">Ford Smart Mobility<\/a>; and Veronica Siranosian, Vice President at<span>\u00a0<\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/aecom.com\/aecom-capital\/\">AECOM Ventures.<\/a><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Open_Mobility_Foundation\"><\/span>Open Mobility Foundation<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Lilly Shoup, Interim Executive Director of Urban Movement Labs, said: \u201cWith initiatives like the UML, which accelerates transportation solutions, and the Open Mobility Foundation, which gives policymakers the digital tools they need to govern emerging mobility, Mayor Garcetti and LADOT are leading the conversation on how to embed equity, sustainability, and accessibility into our urban mobility future.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Launched in 2019, the<span>\u00a0<\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.openmobilityfoundation.org\/\">Open Mobility Foundation<\/a><span>\u00a0<\/span>brought together private sector firms (including Bird, Spin, and Microsoft) and non-profits like\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.rockefellerfoundation.org\/\">The Rockefeller Foundation<\/a><span>\u00a0<\/span>and<span>\u00a0<\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/metrolabnetwork.org\/\">Metrolab Network<\/a>, with LA and 14 other US cities to bridge the gap between data and mobility.<\/p>\n<p>Through the<span>\u00a0<\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/openmobilityfoundation\/mobility-data-specification\">Mobility Data Specification<\/a><span>\u00a0<\/span>(MDS) \u2013 a data-sharing standard that facilitates the exchange of anonymized data between transport operators and municipal transport departments \u2013 cities gained more oversight of the use of micromobility in their cities, and insight to inform future planning.
