COVID hasn\u2019t ruined this Christmas \u201cstalking\u201d tradition. <\/p>\n

The coronavirus pandemic might\u2019ve made it harder to meet Santa Claus in person. However, that hasn\u2019t stopped North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) from activating its annual Santa tracker, which allows Yuletide yearners to keep tabs on Saint Nick as he delivers presents to children around the world on Christmas Eve. <\/p>\n

\u201cNORAD radars and satellites are ready to track Santa!\u201d tweeted NORAD<\/a>, which is responsible for protecting the skies over the US and Canada. NORAD serendipitously got involved in Santa tracking after its phone number was accidentally printed in a 1955 advertisement prompting children to call the jolly old elf, which resulted in kids blowing up the command\u2019s phone lines.<\/p>\n

In 2020 \u2014 on the tradition\u2019s 65th anniversary \u2014 kiddies can once again map out Father Christmas\u2019 present-delivering pilgrimage live all day and night Thursday on the NORAD Tracks Santa website,<\/a> as well as various app<\/a>s for IOS and Android devices. They can also ask Amazon\u2019s Alexa and OnStar <\/a>to keep them abreast of the big man\u2019s whereabouts. <\/p>\n

Unfortunately, due to coronavirus concerns, the Christmas call center will be operating at a limited capacity, CNN reported. <\/a>Normally, hundreds of volunteers are on hand at Colorado\u2019s Peterson Airforce Base to update children who dial 1-877-Hi-NORAD from all over the world on Santa\u2019s locations. However, this year, NORAD\u2019s reduced the number of staffers to mitigate the potential spread of COVID-19.<\/p>\n

Fortunately, callers who can\u2019t reach a volunteer will still be able to hear a recorded message detailing Kris Kringle\u2019s last-known position. <\/p>\n

Thankfully, kids need not worry about Santa delivering disease along with presents, as Dr. Anthony Fauci \u2014 director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and Christmas Eve birthday boy \u2014 recently said he personally vaccinated Saint Nick at the North Pole. <\/p><\/div>\n
