Ocean Vuong<\/strong>\u2018s debut novel On Earth We\u2019re Briefly Gorgeous<\/strong><\/em> became an instant New York Times bestseller when it was released last year, and now a film adaptation is in the works. A24, the indie production company\/distributor behind films like Moonlight<\/em>, Hereditary<\/em>, Eighth Grade<\/em>, The Lighthouse<\/em>, and Uncut Gems<\/em>, announced this week that they were already \u201cbusy working on the film adaptation\u201d of the acclaimed novel.<\/span><\/p>\n

The most recent episode of the A24 podcast<\/a> (which I\u2019d definitely recommend subscribing to, by the way) features a conversation between authors Bryan Washington, who wrote this year\u2019s captivating novel Memorial<\/em>, and Ocean Vuong, whose debut novel was longlisted for the 2019 National Book Award for Fiction. We already knew that A24 was developing Memorial<\/em> into a limited series<\/a> for television, but during the introduction of the podcast episode, the studio announced \u201cnow seems like as good a time as any to announce that we\u2019re also busy working on the film adaptation of On Earth We\u2019re Briefly Gorgeous<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n
