“#NASA astronauts send Christmas message of ‘resilience’ back to Earth<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

Their Christmas was out of this world \u2014 but all they want is peace on Earth.<\/p>\n

Astronauts aboard the International Space Station beamed season\u2019s greeting back to Earth, sending a message of \u201cresilience\u201d to all amid the coronavirus pandemic.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe resilience of the human spirit is something that we can truly celebrate in this special season,\u201d NASA astronaut Victor Glover said in a video this week<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Resilience is also the name of the SpaceX rocket that brought Glover and three others \u2014 fellow NASA astronauts Mike Hopkins and Shannon Walker and Japanese space program astronaut Soichi Noguchi \u2014 to the ISS in November.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe selected that name in tribute to people around the world and to the teams that help make our mission possible during a year that changed all our lives,\u201d Hopkins, the crew commander, said in the clip. <\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019d also like to remember everyone we\u2019ve lost this year.\u201d<\/p>\n

Glover added: \u201cThere couldn\u2019t be a more fitting name to describe 2020.\u201d<\/p>\n

The four joined NASA astronaut Kate Rubins and Russian cosmonauts Sergey Ryzhikov and Sergey Kud-Sverchkov on the space station last month.<\/p>\n

The entire crew was off-duty on Christmas and spent the day sharing a holiday meal together and calling family and friends. They also decked the halls<\/a> of the ISS with festive decorations.\n <\/div>\n
