The NYPD cop shot in Brooklyn but saved by his bulletproof vest was released from the hospital Friday \u2014 in what officials are calling a \u201cmiracle.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s nothing short of a #Christmas miracle that our officer will recover after being shot tonight in Brooklyn,\u201d NYPD Chief of Department Terence Monahan tweeted<\/a> early Friday of Officer Connor Boalick. \u201cThere\u2019s no doubt these Finest saved lives. There\u2019s also no doubt they\u2019re NYC heroes!\u201d<\/p>\n

Boalick, 27, was shot twice in the back after responding to a domestic dispute at 1798 Bergen St. in Crown Heights after 9 p.m. on Christmas Eve, according to police sources.<\/p>\n

The suspect, identified as William Moss, allegedly shot the officer after his girlfriend\u2019s mother called 911 and reported that Moss had allegedly threatened to come over with a gun, law-enforcement said.<\/p>\n

Boalick was talking to the girlfriend when Moss showed up and opened fire then fled. Police pursued him to Prospect Place and fired app<\/a>roximately 6 rounds before taking him into custody.<\/p>\n

Boalick was taken to Kings County Hospital. It wasn\u2019t immedia<\/a>tely clear when he was released.<\/p>\n

Moss was charged with attempted murder, assault, criminal use of a firearm, criminal possession of a weapon and reckless endangerment, according to police sources.<\/p>\n

Police Benevolent Association boss Pat Lynch said Friday at a press conference outside the hospital that a culture that coddles and emboldens criminals led to the cop shooting.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
