Don\u2019t do it AOC!<\/p>\n

That\u2019s the warning New York\u2019s Democratic party boss has for the sophomore Congresswoman, who is rumored to be mulling a primary challenge to US Senate minority leader Chuck Schumer.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think it would be a primary driven by ambition more than by need,\u201d Jay Jacobs told The Post. <\/p>\n

\u201cChuck Schumer has been a progressive force in the state for decades,\u201d added the chairman of the state Democratic committee. \u201cShe has a constituency that admires her and supports her, and they\u2019re in her community, and I think it would be a loss for them if she were to do that.\u201d<\/p>\n

And he would beat her, he said.<\/p>\n

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez would \u201cabsolutely\u201d lose a challenge if she went head-to-head against the veteran Democratic lawmaker, said Jacobs \u2014 who noted he\u2019s yet to meet the Queens rep.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve never met. I would look forward to doing that,\u201d he said. \u201cI am open to that at any time.\u201d <\/p>\n

There has been speculation for months Ocasio-Cortez, 31, may try to unseat US Senate minority leader Schumer, 70, in 2022 \u2014 chatter she hasn\u2019t tamped down. <\/p>\n

Asked point blank earlier this year about challenging Schumer, AOC responded \u201cI don\u2019t know<\/a>,\u201d according to Politico.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t know if I\u2019m really going to be staying in the House forever,\u201d she told Vanity Fair<\/a> in October. <\/p>\n

She raised eyebrows again earlier this month after saying she wished to see \u201cnew leadership in the Democratic Party.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n

President Trump has even chimed in on a potential Ocasio-Cortez-Schumer battle, snarking AOC would \u201ckick his ass,\u201d in a primary.<\/p>\n

AOC and Schumer did not return messages.<\/p><\/div>\n
