At least two teenagers were among six shot in an app<\/a>arently random deadly attack at an Illinois bowling alley bar named Shooters \u2014 which the owners on Sunday slammed as a \u201cheinous act of violence by an evil coward.\u201d<\/p>\n

The suspected killer \u2014 an unidentified 37-year-old man \u2014 was still inside Shooters Bar at Don Carter Lane in Rockford when officers arrived to the bloodbath Saturday night, Police Chief Dan O\u2019Shea told a briefing.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo officers fired their weapons that we know of at this point,\u201d O\u2019Shea told reporters, according to the Rockford Register Star<\/a>, saying the man arrested is the \u201conly individual we believe at this point to be involved.\u201d<\/p>\n

So far, the mass shooting appears to be a random attack, the police chief said \u2014 one that left three dead and three others injured.<\/p>\n

\u201cI do know there are two teenagers that have been shot,\u201d O\u2019Shea said, without revealing if they were among the dead.<\/p>\n

One customer, 24-year-old Amanda Hollenbeck, told DailyMail.com<\/a> that she saw \u201can older man \u2026 shot in the head\u201d as well as another victim hit close to where she was in the \u201cterrifying\u201d attack.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was three steps away from the shooter. If it would\u2019ve been any longer I\u2019d be dead,\u201d Hollenbeck told the outlet. \u201cYou hear about shootings but to witness it \u2026 man, it was scary as f\u2013k,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

It was not clear if staff were among those hit \u2014 although Shooters\u2019 manager spelled out the devastation early Sunday in a pair of Facebook<\/a> posts.<\/p>\n

\u201cA heinous act of violence by an evil coward<\/a> took innocent [lives] tonight,\u201d the manager wrote.<\/p>\n

\u201cHow do I comfort my family<\/a>, my son, my daughter-in-law, my staff that senseless coward that decided to do a mass shooting for no reason took our friends from us and hurt other friends and took what would be a safe place and made it scary?\u201d another post asked.<\/p>\n

\u201cGod please be with their friends and families,\u201d the post said of the dead and injured, thanking law enforcement for \u201cheroic actions that prevented further loss of life.\u201d<\/p>\n

A candlelight vigil is planned for Tuesday.<\/p>\n

\u201cI want that coward to know you can\u2019t break our spirit,\u201d the manager wrote.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur friends and customers will live on in our memories and our hearts they will never be forgotten,\u201d the post said. \u201cPlease say a prayer for the victims and their families during these tough times.\u201d<\/p>\n

The mass shooting capped the deadliest year on record in Rockford, with 35 homicides in 2020 being the most of any year on records dating back to 1965, according to the Rockford Register Star.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
