Lil Rel Howery is returning to the peacock network. The comic actor previously starred in The Carmichael Show<\/em> on NBC, a sitcom that was cancelled after three seasons in 2017. Now, he\u2019s back in a new role.<\/p>\n

Howery will host the upcoming Small Fortune<\/em> game show which will give contestants the chance to win a lot of money for performing small but heart-pounding tasks out in the real world. Production on the series<\/a> is expected to begin later this year.<\/p>\n

UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. \u2013 June 23, 2020 \u2013 NBC has named dynamic comedian, actor, writer and producer Lil Rel Howery as host of the new game show, \u201cSmall Fortune.\u201d Howery, who will also serve as executive producer, joins the pint-sized series that will offer contestants the opportunity to amass large sums of money on the smallest of scales.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m really excited to host this very fun and exciting game show,\u201d said Howery. \u201cI\u2019ve played the games and they\u2019re not as easy as they look, which is why this show will be so fun to watch. You will want to try some of these creative games at home.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cLil Rel\u2019s energy, wit and comedic timing are sure to make \u2018Small Fortune\u2019 feel larger than life,\u201d said Meredith Ahr, President, Alternative and Reality Group, NBC Entertainment. \u201cAs he guides contestants through nail-biting challenges, audiences will be on the edge of their seats and laughing all at once.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cSmall Fortune\u201d will see teams of three friends compete in the tiniest of challenges for a chance to win big money. In order to win, players must face heart-pounding tasks set in real-world destinations that test their precision and technique. From a shrunken sushi conveyor belt with tiny chopsticks (\u201cShrunken Sushi\u201d) to a mini Ellis Island (\u201cStatue of Liberteeny\u201d), each team must prove their skills on miniature playing fields. Challenges will require considerable dexterity and intense focus because with games this small, there\u2019s no room for error as the slightest miscalculation or tremble may result in elimination.<\/p>\n

To take home the ultimate Small Fortune, teams that make it to the end must tackle one last teeny-tiny but epic game. If players can control their nerves and avoid the slightest mistake, they will walk away with a big cash prize.<\/p>\n

\u201cSmall Fortune\u201d is set to go into production later this year.<\/p>\n

Howery is fresh off his successful HBO comedy special \u201cLil Rel Howery: Live in Crenshaw,\u201d which was rated the #1 hourlong comedy special of 2019 by Vulture magazine. In film, he is perhaps best known for his roles as TSA agent Rod Williams in the Oscar-winning \u201cGet Out,\u201d Charlie in the Netflix smash \u201cBird Box,\u201d Dax in \u201cUncle Drew\u201d and Lucas\u2019 dad in \u201cGood Boys.\u201d On the small screen, he starred as Bobby, brother to Jerrod Carmichael, on the critically acclaimed NBC series \u201cThe Carmichael Show,\u201d also starring Tiffany Haddish as his ex-wife. In addition to making an impression with his own comedy series, \u201cRel\u201d on Fox, Howery has lent his talents to \u201cInsecure\u201d on HBO, \u201cSouthside\u201d on Comedy Central and more.<\/p>\n

\u201cSmall Fortune\u201d will be co-produced by Universal Television Alternative Studio and entertainment studio Youngest Media, which created and produced the U.K. format.<\/p>\n

Lucas Church and David Flynn will serve as executive producers for Youngest Media alongside Steve Barry and Joe Braswell, who will serve as executive producers for Kelchris Media and showrunners for the series. Lil Rel Howery will also executive produce.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
